Wharf Rats

Standard*

I was inspired create a deck like this based on two pulls of Wharf Infiltrator and a desire to see my favorite version of the meld mechanic in action. Graf Rats are the classic "chattel" of the Infiltrator's discard-a-creature=Eldrazi Spawn mechanic, but any of the cast-from-graveyard cards work very well for this agressive tactic. For example, even with Graf Rats in the graveyard, Midnight Scavengers can bring them back and we'll get a (admittedly somewhat delayed) Chittering Host. The rest of the deck is rounded out with creatures that work well from the graveyard and removal that isn't too concerned about sacrifice/discard drawbacks, because remember--discard nets us cheap creatures.

Haunted Dead is great to cast from the graveyard, as she pops in with a 1/1 Spirit and can subequently be used tapped as a sacrifice for Bone Splinters or Ruthless Disposal. Prized Amalgam will most likely pop back in too, and he works as great midgame pressue especially when combined with a few Eldrazi Horrors (maybe with menace from a recently-formed Chittering Host.)

With all the discard a lot of cards will be needed, and I tried to compensate with Take Inventory as an early-game discard card or a mid-to-late-game cardgiver.

Geralf's Masterpiece is the WinCon, and since this deck has a great ability to keep your hand pretty empty, he's usually not worse than a 5/5 flying.

I will be playtesting online and looking at card prices soon. Currently designing the sideboard--EVERYTHING is open to suggestion/improvement!
