Your group plays combo but you would rather play long games? Turn the wheel and stax the odds against them! An hybrid deck piloted by Kykar. This combination between wheels, traditional Kykar deck and stax will provide varried gameplay and ensure you foil some of your "friends" combos. Change the stax cards based on your meta.

Game Plan:

The bulk of the game plan revolves around drawing cards, be it us or our opponents. Smothering Tithe and The Locust God are the cores of the two engines. Fairly sustainable mana is obtained from tithe, the Locust god has to be coupled with Phyrexian Altar for a similar effect.

Kykar and Saheeli, Sublime Artificer fit in the regular Kykar Storm strategy. Play spells, get tokens, activate Impact Tremors or Purphoros, God of the Forge. Bonus point if you play a wheel with The Locust God on the field. Goblin Bombardment comes as alternative on top of the above.

Combos and Synergies:

Our main wincon is through an infinite combo using Twinflame and Dualcaster Mage. You need a creature on the field, target it with Twinflame, then use Dualcaster Mage to copy it, the new copy will target the mage to make an infinite amount of hasty mages. Alternative combo would be Crown of Flames, Anointed Procession, Kykar and a pinger like Purphoros.

we use Norin the Wary as an ETB engine with our pingers (purphoros & impact tremor) or as card draw with Ephara, God of the Polis.

The Locust God, Skullclamp and Phyrexian Altar allows us to draw as many card as we want UNLESS we have Suppresion Field or Damping Matrix in play.

The Locust God and Ephara, God of the Polis synergise in a way that allow you to draw a card on each player's turn. Get a locust, draw 1 on next upkeep which creates a locust.

Counterbalance and Baral, Chief of Compliance allow to replace the card on top of the library if needed. Or provided a strong repeatable loot effect.

Getting Mean:

Wheeling and playing nice isn't the whole game plan though. If we play the long game, we play to win. Narset, Parter of Veils and Alms Collector will crush the parity of those wheels. Expect repercussion for playing those. Library of Leng also helps break it by allowing us to select and conserve part of our hand for later.

As deterents for the inevitable countermeasures, we have Goblin Bombardment to sac all our creatures in case of a boardwipe. To note, Suppression Field does hinder it.

An unlikely but complete lock we have is Narset, Parter of Veils combined with Teferi's Puzzle Box. With it, we leave our opponents without hands and without a mean of getting an answer if they don't have any on the field.

Making it even harder:

The stax pieces used aim to deter aristo/graveyard combos, a fellow storm deck and superfriends. They were also chosen to impact us the least possible. And some were chosen just to be annoying.

Counterbalance is in the "being annoying" category. Those cards provide fantastic options for mind games and to puzzle the opponents. Psychic Surgery disable some tutors, penalise fetchlands and synergise with some of our wheels.

Here are what each stax piece hoses (in my meta):
