Darth Waffle's Locust God - Wheels And Bugs

Hey folks, this is my Locust God deck for my LGS weekly commander night. I normally alternate between this deck and my Lord Windgrace MLD/Landfall deck.

I'm going to try and keep track of all my changes from new sets as they are released and a running IN and Out List.

I really love The Locust God. Who doesn't love drawing cards!

Overall our strategy here is pretty simple. Artifact ramp hard into , play the Locust God, wheel, make bugs, make bigger or more bugs. This deck as a multitude of wheel effects and buff effects for our little insects and can effectively win both as a combat deck or using an infinite combo. I can't really say if one is a primary or secondary win con as many of the pieces that help one take off also enable the other (I'm looking at you Mana Echoes ).

I'm running an decent number of counterspells to protect TLG and key pieces where possible. If TLG is dead things become pretty hard for us, however we do have some backups.

Go Infinite: Going infinite with The Locust God is pretty straight forward in the Ashnod's Altar + Skullclamp combo line to draw our deck with The Locust God on the field and with enough manna to play either Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Laboratory Maniac for the win. Mana Echoes + any wheel effect can also create an insane amount of colourless mana. Phyrexian Altar can also serve in place of Ashnod's Altar.

If coloured mana is an issue we can use Gemstone Array to turn those colourless into whatever combination of we need to win.

We can also win simply by having Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors with our infinite combo (or in some cases just a lot of draw) and machine gun down our opponents with triggers.

Psychosis Crawler can also serve as an alternate win con here if we can go infinite (or near infinite) and draw a decent portion of our deck.

Go Wide/Combat Damage: I've probably gone wide more with this deck than any other just for the simple fact that a single Windfall can net me typically 7 flying insects with haste. Shared Animosity is absolutely bonkers and makes them each 8/1's with haste. Coat of Arms does the same thing with the added downside of helping any other tribal deck at the table. Bident of Thassa then lets me draw from those bugs that attack and make more bugs if the Locust God is in play.

I can't say enough about Shared Animosity , its such a strong cards in this deck. If TLG is in play and we can play this and Windfall in the same turn then there is a good chance at least one player is going to die to the 56 flying power we have on board.

Not much of interest from this set that I am really keen on at the moment.

Possible Additions:

Lots of good stuff from Modern Horizons.

Possible Additions:

I was able to pick up a cheap Echo of Eons but the price for Firey Islet and Force of Negation is a bit much for my blood. I've picked up a full playset of Talismans, can't hurt to have more artifacts in this deck.

Great potential for Izzet with WAR.

Possible Additions:

These seemed like pretty obvious additions from WAR to any Wheel deck. Narset is Leovold and Jace is an back up Labratory Maniac.
