I wanted to play something wacky at my next FNM, and I just so happened to already own 3x Zada, Hedron Grinder, so I figured I'd throw this together. It cost be a grand total of $14, taking into account what I already owned.

Card Choices

Zada, Hedron Grinder: Main card in the deck, and what makes the deck turn. Without him it is very difficult to win. An obvious four of.

Dragon Fodder & Hordeling Outburst: Two other key components of the deck, the tokens. All you're doing in the early stages is pumping out little gobos so that when you land Zada you can turn them into 3/3 doublestrikers or whatever you want.

Mighty Leap: In essence the win con. Turns all your tokens into 3/3 flyers, which is usually enough to close out the game on its own.

Feat of Resistance & Glint: What's the problem with building a deck around Zada? As soon as he hits the field, he demands such attention because of his abilities, that he will immediately have all your opponents resources thrown at him. This is actually one good thing about playing Zada right now. Targetted removal is not what it once was. Dromoka's Command, Utter End and a few others are the tier one instant speed removal spells on the market, which makes it easier for Zada to stick. Those cards will still get the job done, so that's where Feat of Resistance and Glint come in. Glint protects Zada from those pesky kills spells, as well can be a huge defensive buff to your whole team of tokens. Feat of Resistance is used for the same thing, but can also render you virtually unblockable. Oh and it pumps your dudes by one, so that's good too.

Center Soul : More protection for Zada. This card is up to be cut though. I'm not sure if it's necessary to have nine different ways of protecting Zada, especially one that doesn't pump your teams power or toughness in any way.

Dance of the Skywise : This is an interesting card. The whole "loses all abilities" is very obnoxious. If only we could combo it with Mighty Leap, it would be perfect. Still, it turns all your guys into 4/4's, so it definitely has merit, and is an amazing combat trick. The fact that it turns it into a 4/4 is huge, as it can let the token live during some blocks. This is the main thing that it has going for it over something like Titan's Strength, but it's tough. I may still end up cutting it.

Defiant Strike : The only card draw in the deck. Cast it on Zada and draw cards for each target after that. Yes please, this deck desperately wants card draw.

Dispel: One of the best cards in standard currently, having one in hand on turn five when you tap four for Zada makes you feel waaay more secure. Knowing that you can counter a Dromoka's Command or Utter End is huge.

Temur Battlerage: Another win con, basically. Even if their only 3/3's, if they have doublestrike it's lights out.

Goblinslide: Was Secure the Wastes (which is better) until I realized Secure the Wastes was $5. Screw that. I'll go with the inferior option. I know Secure is great, but this is extreme budget, so no. I also need at least one more spot dedicated to making tokens, so Goblinslide will have to do.

Optimal build for this deck would include Secure the Wastes. Dig Through Time and Valorous Stance, but they are too expensive.

A few concerns for the deck: it needs card draw. If one Zada can't dodge enough removal, I need a way to find another, plain and simple. Treasure Cruise is a card I'm considering, I just don't know what would come out. Everything seems pretty necessary.

I am going to be taking this to FNM for some laughs at some point, so my sideboard is geared towards dealing with Siege Rhinos and Mantis Riders. The one good thing about this deck is that Zada, Hedron Grinders ability is so ridiculous, that even if they have three Siege Rhinos, if they can't remove him, they aren't going to be able to survive six 3/3 flying doublestrike tramplers. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated, just please keep them budget! +1 if you like!
