Introduction

This is my standard deck that I have been working on for a while. OGW gives it a few new toys. So far, I have taken this deck to 4 FNMs. It 3-1'd all of them except one, where it went only 2-2. The losses were to Eldrazi Ramp, Dark Jeskai, Dark Jeskai again, Eldrazi Ramp again, and B/W Eldrazi Control.

The Deck

This deck is designed to be a midrange deck, but not a value" deck like Dark Jeskai or the new Mardu Green. The Gameplan is to simply beat face with creatures, backed up by decent removal. Any obvious exclusions are because of price issues. The small card advantage this deck does have is generated by Planeswalkers and Tasigur.

There are two classes of creatures in this deck: utility, and face beaters.

Utility Creatures

Rattleclaw Mystic ramps your mana. That's it. That's all he does.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang is technically also a face beater, but he generates lots of card advantage so I call him utility.

The Face Beaters

Savage Knuckleblade is a late game mana sink while being an early beater.

Woodland Wanderer is an easy 6/6 for 4 mana. With two relevant keywords. Good stuff.

Thunderbreak Regent flies over the ground, is on curve, and bolts the opponent when targeted with a spell or ability. The awesome part is the targeted part: it means I can Stubborn Denial a removal spell and still bolt them. I think. Tell me if I'm wrong on that.

Sylvan Advocate is an early beater that can also late game become a 4/5 while pumping up your Hissing Quagmires.

Ob Nixlis, Reignited can kill stuff and draw cards. The ultimate is also pretty game-ending.

Chandra, Flamecaller can give you insane card advantage and delve fuel. She can also pressure the opponent and wipe the board.

Stubborn Denial is a one mana negate. Yay.

Kolaghan's Command can kill small things while generating card advantage by making them discard. Can also randomly blow up Hedron Archive.

Murderous Cut is just good removal.

Crater's Claws can kill a creature or burn their face. Hopes with the deck's speed against ramp.

Mulligans

NEVER KEEP ONE LAND HANDS. Thus is the most important thing to remember. One or zero land hands should immediately be pitched.

Two land hands on the draw are alright if you have some three drops, because with 26 lands there is a good chance to draw another before turn three. On the play, two land hands should only be kept if they contain a Rattleclaw and a three drop or two.

Three land hands are almost always keepers, unless there are zero threats in the hand, and only answers.

The End

So yeah, thanks for looking at my deck! Comments and +1 are always welcome.

Updates Add

So, I took this deck to another FNM, with some changes. The deck got its worst record yet, 2-2.

Round 1 I lost to a B/W Eldrazi deck. It had Silkwraps and Stasis Stares combined with Wasteland Strangler. In game two, I could have won, but when I swung for lethal with a Tasigur, he used Mirror Pool to copy a tapped Reality Smasher. I lost 0-2 against this deck.

Round 2 I beat a U/W Sphinx's Tutelage deck 2-0. It was a home brew and not very good.

Round 3 I lost 0-2 to G/R Eldrazi Ramp. My deck didn't have enough speed, and I lost to World Breakers game one and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger game two,

Round 4 I won 2-0 versus Mono Green Eldrazi. Game one I beat him by Stubborn Denialing his Ugins. Game two he didn't draw his seventh land. He had 2 World Breakers in his hand.

WHAT I LEARNED:

I learned that my deck isn't fast enough to beat Eldrazi Ramp, so I added 2 Crater's Claws to the main and one to the side. I also added 4x Sylvan Advocate, and moved the Kalitas's to the side. I actually used to play the Claws, and burning the opponent after a couple swings from Woodland Wanderer and Savage Knuckleblade was usually lethal.
