Junk Midrange - Obzedat-Whip

Main Board

Obzedat, Ghost Council
Pretty obvious as to why Obzedat is in here. A definite heavy beater, with the added benefit of resiliency and lifelink when paired with Whip of Erebos

Blood Baron of Vizkopa
Another great creature that dominates against white / black decks, and serves as a great finisher when the game stalls out long enough. Bringing him back with Whip of Erebos is also pretty viable for that last few points of damage / life, too.

Desecration Demon
I love Desecration Demon because he's just card advantage all over. When the Whip of Erebos is out, nobody wants him to hit, so opponents will start sacrificing just about anything to delay him. Also makes a good finisher when unearthed by Whip of Erebos for an alpha strike.

Reaper of the Wilds
I have no idea why this creature doesn't see more play. The scry 1 is amazing, and as a 4/5 toggle-deathtouch, things are going to be dying. All-around efficient creature.

Loxodon Smiter
The most "vanilla" card in the deck, Loxodon Smiter is still a 4/4 for 3 and can't be countered or discarded. Maybe I'll replace him with something else, but for now, he makes for a well-rounded early game blocker and attacker.

Sylvan Caryatid
0/3 hexproof defender that manafixes? Sign me up.

Abrupt Decay
A very useful removal spell for getting rid of those annoying small things. The prime targets for this spell are: Boros Reckoner, Underworld Connections (to keep devotion counts in check), Blind Obedience (shuts down my Whip of Erebos and Obzedat, Ghost Council), and Detention Sphere (although, with Blood Baron of Vizkopa being pro-white and Obzedat, Ghost Council being exiled during their turn, isn't much of a worry). Love this card.

Hero's Downfall
Because Elspeth, Sun's Champion.

Putrefy
Mostly used as spare removal, but with the added benefit of removing opposing Whip of Erebos or whatever artifacts that I don't want being around.

Whip of Erebos
Mass lifelink and unearth. Pretty great, really

Side Board

Golgari Charm
I love this charm, and I'm honestly a bit surprised that it doesn't see more play. The -1/-1 option is great against mono white and annihilates mono blue devotion decks, destroying enchantments (such as Blind Obedience or Underworld Connections) is also fairly relevant, and the regenerate option is a great way to help live through Supreme Verdict.
Selesnya Charm
This charm is good at a lot of things, but the exile-removal option is probably the most relevant at the moment. The +2/+2 and trample option is great for alpha striking, and the 2/2 token provides for an instant-speed chump blocker against RDW and Selesnya Aggro.
Mistcutter Hydra
I love Mistcutter Hydra for many reasons. I've learned that against WUB / WU control with Aetherling[[, it's best to keep a [[Mistcutter Hydra in hand until they drop AEtherling and then beating face with your Mistcutter Hydra, forcing them to sorcery-speed wipe with Supreme Verdict. Pretty hilarious. Against mono blue, Mistcutter Hydra is essentially an untouchable creature.
Thoughtseize
Thoughtseize is a great card against most decks, especially the devotion ones that depend on a particular card in order to function. Really, I think the price tag is worth it anyway.
