This is a variant of the Esper Mill deck. The goal of the deck is to mill out your opponents library and then buy everyone a pizza because you just forced mill in your meta.
Notable Cards && Interactions:
Jace's Phantasm was originally put in this deck as a deterrent/wall, but a 5/5 for U can win games on its own. Solid backup plan.
Archive Trap
+
Ghost Quarter
+
Path to Exile
Running Archive Trap, Ghost Quarter, and Path is great. Game one it allows us to pull 14 cards from their library. (13 off Archive, 1 from their search.) Games two and three often see Path turning into the best removal ever and Ghost Quarter turning into Strip Mine.
Ghost Quarter
+
Mind Funeral
+
Path to Exile
Mind Funeral is a little janky. While Path and Ghost Quarter help pull lands, it's often mediocre. It's first on my list to be replaced. So why is it in here? If you are up against a deck with few lands (Burn, Reanimator, Oops All Spells) you can close the game out with just Mind Funeral.
Visions of Beyond We get to play with Ancestral Recall. Don't be afraid to use the "draw one" option in a pinch.
Ghost Quarter
+
Hedron Crab
+ Fetch Lands. Those crabs. I was sceptical at first, but they are the best mill in this deck. Drop a Crab then fetch away your opponents library. You can Ghost Quarter your own lands to get extra triggers if you're desperate/close to winning. Did I mention that the Crabs love hanging out at Oboro, Palace in the Clouds?
Extirpate
+
Surgical Extraction
Pull combo pieces to secure a win, problem cards to stabilize your game, or non-basic lands to help Mind Funeral.
Breaking / Entering
+
Shelldock Isle
Instant speed LOLsy reanimator. You can snatch their Emrakul with this nonsense if it ever comes down to it.
Crypt Incursion Looks like jank, but it is totally amazing. At its worst it can gain us 9 life; at its best we are up 30+. Consider this card main deck hate against any aggro strat or burn.
Snapcaster Mage... is not in this deck. Snaps is great in decks with a lot of instant speed interactions (Devler), but in our deck Snaps winds up being 4 mana to mill for 10. Sub par to say the least. Besides price, what really takes Snaps out of this deck is the inability to use him to flashback Archive Trap for its trap cost. Snaps is a great card, just not here.
Sideboard:
Extirpate
+
Rest in Peace
+
Surgical Extraction
Avoid mass graveyard hate. Visions of Beyond, Jace's Phantasm, and Crypt Incursion all need our opponent to have a healthy yard in order to function. The goal here isn't to blindly nuke their yard but to strategically take out those cards that are problematic. This keeps our exploits up and should bring down their utility. Surgical and Extirpate are in against most yard-utilizing match ups. Rest in Peace really only comes in against Tron because Emrakul is our single biggest threat and we need all crabs on deck to take that monster down.
Bile Blight
+
Night of Souls' Betrayal
Our build can handle big creature. We can Path a few beaters, trade with the Phantasm, or even chump with Crabs, but going up against tokens has us racing-which is where we don't want to be. Bile Blight and Night of Souls' Betrayal are here to hose those tokens and rain on Twin's parade.
