This was my favorite standard deck to play casual games at my friends weekly game pre theros rotation. Its got some sick stomping action as well as sudden death gy tricks. Ill give you a little breakdown of some fun plays you can make with this golgari zombie themed deck. Enjoy the flavor.
T1 Gravecrawler or Slitherhead to start putting pressure on out of the gate. Torso or head zombie two nasty little guys who are crazy for the taiste of flesh even if they can only reach your ankles.
T2 Lotleth Troll is a staple in this deck he has trample he has regenerate and he has the ability to grow while at the same time feeding the gy which is a major goal of this deck. Grisly Salvage you might not have the cards you need this card is a must. It helps you dig in for the cards you are looking for while potentially filling up the gy with juicy corpses. Dawntreader Elk this guy is often overlooked and underrated but he is a great card for this deck hes a solid 2/2 body for 2 mana he pulls a land from the library to the battlefield and gets the gy started for creatures like Splinterfright.
T3 Splinterfright an absolute monster of a creature for this deck type. He has trample and he mills 2 cards every turn making himself grow with every corpse he tosses to the gy. He doesnt usually start strong but with an early game Wreath of Geists he can be pretty stable even if all you have in the gy is that Dawntreader Elk. Diregraf Captain this deck is filled with a boat load of unruly zombies and this guy whips them into shape and gives them direction. He was a late addition to the deck but he eventually made the cut. He is a solid play buffing his ankle biting associates while not that big of a threat on his own as a 2/2 that deathtouch makes an opponent think twice befor storming into this horde of zombies. Worst case scenario no island to play him no worries just feed him to that Lotleth Troll
T4 the leader Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord this guy is massively destructive while not that big of a body he often comes out at least as a 6/6 or bigger because of his gy buff. He is an easy choice to feed to Lotleth Troll early game as he can come back from the grave later on for an instant win combo by playing him and using his sac ability to drop a giant creature sealing the fate of every player left standing after the horde of zombies has devoured thier flesh.
Other stuffGhoultree this card is pretty freaking awesome in this deck easily played early game for as little as 1 freakin mana with as many possible ways to feed the gy full of bodies. I have successfully played him enchanted him with Wreath of Geists and sacrified him to jarad turn 5 for a devistating surprize win. Hes a pretty reckless beast with a towering 10/10 body and his reducing mana cost a must for this decks style and flavor.
Wreath of Geists a card i have not seen get much action but for the style of this deck its a really usefull 1 mana enchantment. Used early to effectivly double the effectiveness of Splinterfright or a massive powerup late game for any creature who is big enough to give his life to jarad for the good of the hoard.
Deadbridge Chant if all else fails you this powerfull graveyard bouncing enchantment can be used to pump cards to the gy and recycle some cards that get tossed in to the gy.
Well if you like zombies and enjoy a flavorfull deck than this baby is for you. When this deck was standard i never had a chance to test it out in a FNM tournament but i feel like it would have ate some faces. I would enjoy hearing what people think about this fun and reasonably priced deck just know that i dont really intend on making much modification to it other than a slight change here or there as it has cycled out and it is now semi retired.
