Commander / EDH BR (Rakdos)

Wort, Boggart Auntie

B100 EDH RULES:

Here follows the three comprehensive rules that define the format:

  • $100 Budget: The complete cost of the deck must be below $100 for the TCG Player Avg price. This is where the B100 comes from for those that are curious. This value is calculated on the left side of this page. The correct value is the lesser of the 2 values, as this is the price using the cheapest versions available. The cost of the general is included and basic lands do not add to the total cost.
  • Commander Cost Limit: The cost of the commander cannot exceed $10 utilizing the TCG Player Avg price. This is to avoid decks that abuse overly powerful commanders.
  • Additional Banlist: This is an optional list of cards that outclass other cards by such a large margin and generally don't add anything to the game in terms of interesting gameplay.

DECK STRATEGY:

The primary focus of this deck are as follows:

  • Goblin Tribal: This deck is comprised mostly of goblin creature type and is intended for B100 EDH high level tier tribal match-ups; however, it can also be successful in casual games as well. Here are a few examples of goblins with tribal synergies.
  • Large Army: Goblins have a plethora of cards that make it easy to field a large wide army. They achieve this by either placing goblins directly into play, fetching other goblins, or creating tokens. Here are a few examples of cards that can assist in producing a large army fast.
  • Goblin Combat Damage: The main means to victory is the obvious overwhelming of opponents with attacking goblins. Here are a few cards in the deck that can increase the hitting power of the goblin force.

Some other synergies within the deck:

  • Non-combat Damage: Sometimes, no matter how ferocious an army you field, you just cannot seem to break through the enemies defenses. (i.e. Propaganda, Maze of Ith) Therefore, this deck also has some non-combat focused cards in the deck as well. Note that some of these require a sacrifice outlet.
  • Goblin Dark-Dwellers Package: This is a toolbox kit that can flashback any previous cast instant or sorcery in your graveyard by using the ETB trigger of Goblin Dark-Dwellers. All 11 instants/sorceries in the deck are 3 CMC or less. The spell Unearth is one of these 11 and also spawns into a mini-toolkit itself. It can reanimate most goblins along with every non-goblin creature in the deck as well. Here are three examples of the eleven instants/sorceries.

FEATURED CARD:

Goblin Chirurgeon

Here are three strengths of the featured card:

  • Creature - Goblin: Goblin Chirurgeon has the creature type goblin. Here are a few of the cards in the deck that benefit goblins.
  • Activated Ability: Sacrifice a Goblin: Regenerate target creature. This ability is extremely powerful in a multiplayer format such as EDH. It can not only regenerate your other goblins, but also regenerate non-goblin creatures you or your opponents control. This can spare half of your army rounded up from most board wipes while also giving you the ability to team up against an a player with an overwhelming board state. Here are a few examples of creatures in this deck you will want to keep around.
  • Artwork: Phil Foglio is likely my favorite artist from the early days of Magic the Gathering. Here are a few other of his wacky examples for you to enjoy!
