Wow, this deck is pretty Fast!

Commander / EDH*

Dreno33

I am QUITE impressed with my playtesting of this deck already. The speed of damage, once Purphoros, God of the Forge hits the field, is very exciting.

So, the basic idea is to get just a little bit mana ramp going (via rocks) and drop Purphoros. I will then proceed to drop down sorceries and creatures that provide multiples of creature tokens. The simplistic synergy in this deck is unreal. Spending 4 mana for 3 creatures and dealing 6 damage is a pretty good value in my opinion.

Now I will get to breaking down the card selections and mechanics of the deck.

First, let's take a look at the ramp choices for mono red and which were the most effect and gave the best board presence.

Ramp

  • Ancient Tomb - A mana crypt as a land, very powerful in this deck for an explosive beginning.

  • Extraplanar Lens - Note the Snow covered mountains. This allows only my mountains to tap for extra.

  • Gauntlet of Might - You all know how powerful this card is. Hence it's $ price. Woo 4 mana is cheap!

  • Gauntlet of Power - same as above, except 5 mana. Still very necessary and strong enough to include.

  • Gilded Lotus - EDH staple, and even better in mono-colored decks.

  • Mana Crypt Turn 2 Purphoros can be devastating if not exiled right away(: The damage it brings isn't nearly as much as the opponents'.

  • Ruby Medallion - Classic mono-colored EDH staple. Very good in this deck.

  • Sol Ring - Another essential staple for a T2 Purphoros. Not much explaining needed.

  • Thran Dynamo - I don't see this card in enough EDH decks. Very underrated card. Very powerful in EDH.

Looking into control, I have a few Red EDH Staples, however this deck is focused on a straight path to damage, so these cards are a bit limited in numbers.

Control

  • Blood Moon - Jeez, I feel so mean and yet so happy whenever I play this. (Evil smirk followed)

  • Magus of the Moon - Two are necessary, very necessary. (Evil smirk continued)

  • Goblin Bombardment - This is a token deck, after all. This enchantment is mainly to ping out the utility creature or do the last bit of damage for the win.

  • Leyline of Punishment - Very necessary card. I believe life gain deck will be a tough matchup so I am happy to find a spot for this beauty.

  • Stranglehold - Unless you have seen this card in play, you have no idea how powerful it is. People will hate you a bit, but not before someone forgets it is out when they crack their fetch. BOY are they mad(: Anyways, amazing control card, definitely find a spot for your own build.

  • Blasphemous Act - Red EDH Staple, and no surprise to find a spot here. I have no problem board wiping myself because it is better than dealing with flyers or a big fatty I can't deal with.

  • Mogg Infestation - Great card to do a one-sided board wipe. Very mana efficient. The best thing is I can very simply win with this card by doubling the creatures I already have out. Usually a game finisher unless I am about to lose.

  • Ruination - Laugh-Out-Loud is the only word. Some decks scoop to this, and I love it.

  • Vandalblast - I run this card in every single EDH deck that includes red. Such a great card. Artifacts are important and EDH, therefore so is Vandalblast.

  • Wheel of Fortune - Though usually used to benefit me, I can just as easily cast this to ruin somebody's win condition with it.

  • Karn Liberated - Everytime I have played this (so far) someone has either scooped on the spot or in a few turns. He makes me smile.

Now I will bring you to the bread and butter of the deck. I will lay out all of the token generators and utilities that follow.

Token Generators

Token Synergy

  • Ashnod's Altar - sacrifice all creatures to drop a massive "X" spell to win.

  • Conjurer's Closet - 13 creatures to abuse ETB effects or reuse ability. But all creatures still deal their own damage as is.

  • Mimic Vat - Yeah, this card is insane. I can even exile their creature for other ETB if they have them. I am excited to try and steal Avenger of Zendikar, LOL.

  • Skullclamp - Most creatures/tokens are 1/1s, this card is vital to the deck and its tempo

  • Furnace of Rath - Double Purphoros damage, very quick game.

  • Goblin Bombardment - Great control card for this deck, as previously mentioned.

  • Gratuitous Violence - For 1 extra mana then Furnace of Rath, ONLY my side is benefited. Very good. Other way to seal the game quickly.

  • Chaos Warp - My token for another permanent? Very good. My third or so play test I Chaos Warped a token and topped a Myr Battlesphere. HAHA

As you can see, their is a lot of synergy in this deck and I hope you enjoyed reading. Give it a playest, I assure you it is VERY fun to add up the tokens and damage(:
