Sideboard

Now that the first FNM of the new standard is (likely) in the books, I thought I'd post my deck. The concept behind the deck and my decision on playing it for the first week of standard is this:

Aggro in itself, I think, is a very safe bet to play in the first week of any new standard. The reason I chose to build R/B versus what most people are playing (R/W) is how great the deck performs in any aggro mirror including the aforementioned and very popular R/W variant. Playing black slows the deck down a bit, but allows me to play some truly amazing burn spells and fully abuse the potential of madness in a deck with Smuggler's Copter and other great madness outlets while still synergizing with the overall artifact matters theme of the deck. It also gives me access to very cheap life gain spells in Alms of the Vein and Night Market Lookout. Those two cards alone will win you an aggro mirror most of the time. One notable loss to speed is the lack of Toolcraft Exemplar, but it's an acceptable loss in my eyes.

I will update the description soon with a full breakdown of the key cards in the deck and my overall thought process behind my decisions, but for now I'll just leave the list and let the record speak for itself.

FNM Record: 4-0

Round One: 2-0 versus R/W Aggro
Round Two: 2-0 versus U/G Energy Emrakul
Round Three: 2-0 versus Esper Control
Round Four: 2-1 versus B/G Delirium

Although I am by no means saying the list is perfect, my record does warrant some merit as to the viability of the deck.

+1 if you like going against the grain and rogue builds! (even if the rogue build is still the oft hated week 1 aggro.)
Thoughts and suggestions are as always appreciated and welcome. :)
