This started off as an Azorius Control deck for casual play. One of my friends wasn't too happy playing against it and challenged me to build a version without rares.
Since he's on a budget he's been running a mono black deck with Mutilates as the lone rare as his only Standard deck. I decided once the deck was finished he could have it so he doesn't get tired of playing the same thing every time.
I pitched in the RtR cards and so far it's running pretty smoothly. The guildgates don't make for the greatest mana fixing though. We've since made an exception for Supreme Verdict in multiplayer settings.
In one of the longest Two-Headed Giant games I've ever played, Blood Artist + Mutilate nullified the werewolves and my early life gain. Fortunately Elixir of Immortality and a timely Sphinx's Revelation for 5 allowed me to cast Fog 7 times during the game. Our opponents weren't happy.
Eventually the werewolves stabilized and between my control and Kessig Wolf Run we put an end to the madness.
Overall despite drawing one Chalice of LifeFlip during the game I was happy with the results. With Blood Artist and my teammate running werewolves Supreme Verdict became a dead card so I'm glad I only ran 2. Can't plan for Blood Artist before the match starts.
