An experiment in something few expect and even fewer prepare for, at least in Standard. With our shop running lots of control and Thragtusk decks, it was time to shake things up.

Ramp up fast and start nuking lands on turn 3. Keep the board clear with Devil's Play while Zhur-Taa Druid wears them down.

Two lovely hydra species--Primordial Hydra and Savageborn Hydra--finish the job. The Primordial wins on its own if left unchecked, while the Savageborn holds the field until you draw a Kessig Wolf Run.

Acidic Slime is key here, throwing off your opponent's tempo while leaving back a 2/2 deathtouch to block Loxodon Smiter. Vorapede holds the ground while stomping face at the same time, and he's hard to take out.

The sideboard features cheap burn and a surprise indestructible threat: Predator Ooze .
