My take on 'mono' black control.
As all my decks, I never build a true mono color deck. This decks is a black control focusing on hand and field control with slow bleed outs, splashing in red for those cards I simply couldn't resist.
One guy asked me why I was running Olivia Voldaren, and I said because she wins games. RIght after that, she won me the next game against him single handedly. Shits fits very well in a field of Desecration Demons.
I built this so try something new, and have enjoyed playing it very much. I have lost only a few of the many games I have played with it and those have either been against super aggressive decks with good hands or me getting mana screwed from not drawing that third land, and sometimes both. It's hands are very consistent and almost always keepable. I think I have only mulliganed maybe twice in the thirty plus games I have played with this deck.
It seems weak against enchantment decks that don't enchant their creatures, such as Assemble the Legion. However, you can usually rip that out of their hand and are in control of the game and have victory locked in long before it sees the field.
If anyone has advice for answers to add into the deck, please say so.
I might run this at the next FNM instead of my Four Color Vampires deck. If I do, I will update how it handles situations in a more competitive environment.
