Athreos is an amazing god, not just because of his colors, but because of his ability, which lets us repeatedly put our creatures back in our hands, and then cast them to trigger their activated abilities again, in this situation, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim pairs amazingly with Athreos, cause she will sacrifice a creature and you gain life equal to toughness, and then Athreos will bring it back for you to use again. He also goes well with Fleshbag Marauder, as he can repeatedly use it's etb effect to control the board better, giving everyone less creatures then they want, which is perfect for what you want to achieve. He also abuses Archon of Justice and Ashen Rider as he can repeatedly EXILE permanents, not nonland permanents, permanents, so that means it has access to each and every permanent your opponents control. He also uses creatures like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat to make your opponents lose life whenever a creature you control leaves the field. He also runs Debtors' Knell if they decide to lose 3 life to get rid of the creature, which makes Athreos all the more powerful than the other gods are.
