MONO STOMPY
INNER TIMMY'S REJOICE!!!!
I enjoy simplistic decks and Mono-Green Stompy has been my favorite since the beginning of my history in MtG.
Conception:I mainly play The Rock at my LGS but this deck will ensure I keep people on their toes by switching it up occasionally. I also do enjoy not having to think constantly while piloting this.
WinCons:
Dungrove Elder was added strictly for the plethora of removal in the Modern meta and because "Hexproof" is relevant.
Avatar of the Resolute is the decks new card. Better than Kalonian Tusker in terms of "Trample" and helps us against evasion. Testing will commence as soon as I purchase my play set.
Dryad Militant is probably the most relevant item within this build. Stops Snapcaster Mage, slows Tarmogoyf's growth, neutralizes Grim Lavamancer's ammunition, turns Lingering Souls into a bad Raise the Alarm, makes Tasigur, the Golden Fang's "Delve" harder to cast, etc.
Experiment One helps combo with Avatar of the Resolute. Our bread and butter T1 creature that grows and usually is a 4/4 by T3.
Leatherback Baloth; this vanilla beater is our Tarmogoyf for an extra . It is only utilized for it's stats and nothing more.
Scavenging Ooze keeps this deck competitive. Like Dryad Militant mentioned before, it will stop most match-ups that require the 'yard for added performance (see Dryad Militant above). Ooze also stops creatures like: Kitchen Finks, anything dredge, zombies, etc. It's a great mid-game creature as well if it goes unanswered. Avatar of the Resolute works well with this card.
Strangleroot Geist is added pressure as it is our bread and butter T2 with "Haste" and is resilient with "Undying". Can make Experiment One a 3/3 on T2 after being cast and then "Un-dies" after combat damage phase. Combination with Avatar of the Resolute.
Tricks:
Giant Growth: Grand Daddy of all pumps. Can;t go wrong with it.
Aspect of Hydra is a better card as the game progresses. Still testing between this and GG.
Vines of Vastwood protects from all sorts of removal and even counters and bounces. It can even be used as a "Pseudo-Hexproof" against opposing Bogles and Infect decks from Enchanting their own creatures.
Pump:
Rancor. Come on, it's Mono- StompEEEEE. Makes our threats more threatening.
