Tough news friend, heard you have a problem going the distance. She told me all about it.
I understand it's embarrassing when you are trying to drive it home and it all fizzles out, you just come up a little short.
Ok, now that THAT joke is done, my take on the abzan outlast deck. creatures keep getting bigger and keep giving fun abilities.
Creatures:1-drop
Disowned Ancestor
- a 1-drop 0/4 with outlast. Lets me start out with a creature out on the field that will protect through the next turn or two.
2-drop
Ainok Bond-Kin- nothing like giving everyone first strike and some pumping action.
3-drop
Abzan Falconer
- nothing special on his own, but hey it's not always about satisfying yourself. Pump and fly? Oh my!
Anafenza, the Foremost- no joke of a three-drop. This little lady hands out counters like candy. Plus, all the love everyone is showing for delve? well, that ain't happening.
4-drop
Mer-Ek Nightblade, deathtouch and first strike from earlier makes this a fun and easy combo.
High Sentinels of Arashin
everyone says how these guys aren't fast enough...well, a little patience and this guy can swing a big, being pumped be all my other creatures.
Siege Rhino- life loss and gain? 4/5 for 4? Trample? sounds good to me.
Abzan Battle Priest- pumping and lifelink? Once this is out, if any of my creatures are still around, the game will probably be swinging in my favor.
Ivorytusk Fortress
an outlast version of Prophet of Kruphix for your creatures...plus it's a 5/7 for 5.
Non-creatures-Abzan Ascendancy- gives all creatures a counter, beefing up my bird and making sure all outlasting abilities are hitting.
Hardened Scales- taking a probationary position to see how well it plays with others, doubling up the counters is nice on paper, let's see how it translate to the battlefield.
Ordeal of Nylea
- this deck I have found has some serious mana issues. Can never seem to pull that third color, it's getting more consistent, and this card helps. it helps activate outlast, pumps, lets me dig for lands, and if Hardened Scales is out, well, all the better.
but where do all those counters you need come from? Oh, they are right here.
Abzan Charm- great utility card, exile, draw, or counters onto the creatures.
Feat of Resistance it ain't Gods Willing+ Heroic, but it adds a counter and protection for 2...I'll keep it.
and
Reap What Is Sown
best card in standard for +1/+1 counters, 3 counters go out to creatures, letting outlast hit more and more.
Warriors' Lesson is also here on probation until I decide if it is worth it.
Other potentionals are the Ajani planeswalkers. Hard to pass up all those counters and boosts...
So really, I love this deck format, but am having issues getting the mana to land right. I know when I need to do is lighten my wallet for the fetch and pain lands, but I am hoping to avoid some of that. Any ideas from anyone as how to adjust my land for more consistent early game 3 colors?
Thanks in advance...oh, and...
