Za Warudo! (Sliver Overlord Aggro)

Commander / EDH* Aggro Multiplayer Sliver

PookandPie

Sliver Overlord Aggro is a pretty simple concept to explain: Play Slivers, make them huge by tutoring out the proper cards, and then swing them at people until they lose.

Intruder Alarm, Mana Echoes, and now Paradox Engine are the premiere combo pieces of the deck. Alarm is described above, and Echoes goes infinite with Sliver Queen to make as many tokens as you could possibly desire. Paradox Engine functions similarly to Intruder Alarm, described above in the spoiler.

Beyond that, you can steal any creature you like with Sliver Overlord and Amoeboid Changeling. Note that Crystalline Sliver shuts this off (turning any creature into a Sliver would likewise give it shroud), so having Quick Sliver/Seedborn Muse and Hibernation Sliver is usually a solid choice if you just need to steal a troublesome creature away from an opponent.

Notable synergies:

Intruder Alarm and Sliver Overlord. What you need is 5 Slivers total, two of which should be Sliver Overlord and Manaweft Sliver or Gemhide Sliver. Pay 3 to tutor out a Sliver with haste (if you have an open mana from any non-Sliver source available after casting Intruder Alarm, you require only 4 Slivers), namely Heart Sliver, and cast it. Then, proceed to cast every single Sliver in the library and gaining extra mana each time. At the end of this, they should be getting something in the range of +53/+51 with multiple forms of evasion, indestructible, vigilance, double strike, shroud, etc., so you could probably swing one or two at each opponent to end the game.

If you're afraid of Fog or something similar, once you've pulled every Sliver you want out of your library with Intruder Alarm, you should control a shrouded and indestructible Sliver Queen, Basal Sliver, Cautery Sliver, Heart Sliver, and Gemhide Sliver/Manaweft Sliver, among other little dudes (you can literally just go get these, though, if you want the win to be quick). Queen + Mana Sliver + Heart Sliver + Basal Sliver = Infinite mana (you pay 2, make a Sliver baby, tap the baby for mana, and then sac it for BB to make a new token, gaining 1 mana each time). Pick a number of mana you want, say 100k, and then you can spend it to generate 50k untapped and hasted Sliver tokens. You can then tap the 50k tokens for mana, then spend it on Cautery Sliver to deal all the damage.

The new Paradox Engine does the same job as Intruder Alarm but at 5 mana. It cannot go infinite with just Sliver Queen tokens, but still goes infinite: Using Sliver Overlord and 4 other Slivers, one of which must be Gemhide/Manaweft, you can tutor any/every Sliver out of your library and cast them. To shortcut things, you need to tutor at least Cautery Sliver, Darkheart Sliver, Hibernation Sliver, Gemhide Sliver/Manaweft Sliver, and Sliver Queen, plus a few random others for numbers. If you pull every Sliver out of the library, you'll be able to generate at least 38 mana after you cast the last one. You spend 2 life to bounce any Sliver, re-cast it, and then spend the rest into Sliver Queen tokens, then sacrifice one for 3 life to Darkheart's ability (which assuming you bounce a 1 drop, that leaves you with 37 mana, which makes 13 tokens minus 1, which is 59 Slivers in play. You can do this again and again for as many tokens as you want). With arbitrarily large numbers of tokens you then you tap each token for 1 mana and pay that mana to sacrifice them to deal damage to each opponent to kill via Cautery Sliver.

Intruder Alarm makes for an extremely difficult to stop combo piece, so I strongly recommend it to anyone making a Sliver Overlord Commander deck.

Mana Echoes + Sliver Queen = Infinite mana and tokens

Gemhide Sliver + Mana Reflection + Sliver Queen = Infinite mana and tokens

Basal Sliver + Sliver Queen + Training Grounds = Infinite tokens.

Sliver Queen + Intruder Alarm + Gemhide Sliver = Infinite tokens. Tapping Queen and Gemhide/Manaweft produces enough to generate another token, which triggers Alarm, which untaps both of them again.

Basal Sliver + Sliver Queen + Gemhide Sliver + Heart Sliver = Infinite mana and subsequently infinite tokens (you tap the Sliver for mana, then sac for BB. Spend the BB to produce another token, gain 1 extra mana each iteration).

Amoeboid Changeling + Sliver Overlord = Steal a creature for 3 mana once per turn

Sliver Overlord + Unnatural Selection = Steal a creature for 4 mana, until you run out of mana.

Sliver Overlord + 4 Slivers (Gemhide/Manaweft and Heart/Firewake must be among them) + Intruder Alarm/Paradox Engine = Tutor and cast every single Sliver from the library you want and then win using one of the above combos (probably either the convoluted one involving Cautery Sliver or just assembling Sliver Queen + Gemhide/Manaweft + Basal Sliver + Heart Sliver.

With Intruder Alarm and Paradox Engine, you can do some silly combo lines if something happens to Sliver Queen or your deck doesn't have one (let's be honest- she's gotten expensive lately and even if she's great, the price tag hurts). In these cases, there is a special combo line you can do without Sliver Queen if you get Intruder Alarm or Paradox Engine in play:

Sliver Overlord + Gemhide Sliver/Manaweft Sliver + Heart Sliver/Firewake Sliver + Cautery Sliver + Pulmonic Sliver + Intruder Alarm/Paradox Engine

This combo line requires Pulmonic Sliver (which is a cheaper alternative to Sliver Queen). You'll have a bunch more Slivers on field if you combo out via Alarm/Engine, but you have at bare minimum these 5 Slivers on field, most likely all tutored through Overlord's ability. You tap a Sliver to pay Cautery's cost to sacrifice a Sliver to deal 1 damage, Pulmonic puts that Sliver on top of your library, then Overlord can tutor that Sliver back to hand for 3 mana, and then you can re-cast the aforementioned Sliver and do the process again, which Alarm/Engine will untap all of the Slivers in play and let you re-tap them for mana. In order to perform this combo line you need N + 4 Slivers in play to have enough mana for this line, where N is the mana cost of the sacrificed Sliver (so 5-6 Slivers for a 1 or 2 mana Sliver, which you probably already had that many in play to combo off with Engine and Alarm in the first place).

If you have Queen, you have easier ways to utilize infinite damage through Cautery Sliver already, but the Pulmonic Sliver line is nice because it's another solid non-combat way to kill an opponent.

Unused combo line:

Sliver Overlord + Gemhide Sliver/Manaweft Sliver + Heart Sliver/Firewake Sliver + Cautery Sliver + Hibernation Sliver Syphon Sliver Sliver Queen + Intruder Alarm/Paradox Engine

This combo line generates infinite tokens and damage.Let's say you control 21 Slivers after this is done- you pay 2 life, return the cheapest one to your hand (say, Galerider), and then re-cast it, untapping 20 Slivers that you can now tap for mana. You tap 10 to make 5 tokens from Sliver Queen, and then you tap 5 more to sacrifice those 5 tokens to deal 5 damage to a player, and then gain 5 life. You have 5 mana leftover, and can then pay 2 more life, bounce your cheapest Sliver, re-cast it, and then start this process again. This combo generates infinite life, tokens, mana, and damage. There's basically no reason to ever utilize this combo line. Unless Basal Sliver, of all things, was exiled/killed.

Due to Sliver Overlord's second ability, however, I cannot stress the importance of sacrifice outlets, Crystalline Sliver, Diffusion Sliver, etc.. There's nothing worse than your opponent casting a Clever Impersonator and trying to take your Commander- but it is a great feeling to flash in a Quick Sliver then Crystalline/Diffusion Sliver with them not being able to pay for the ability again.
