Treasure Hunt + Zombie Infestation + Lands = Cheap Modern Deck
I thought the nonbasic lands could add options as well as speed the deck up by a turn or two. Reliquary Tower and Gemstone Caverns can help you get an edge if you can drop them on the first 2 turns.
Pretty much, Turn 0 Caverns lets you cast a Turn 1 Zombie Infestation or Treasure Hunt. Zombies on turn 1 and 2 means win! Right?
Reliquary tower allows you to play a Treasure Hunt as early as turn 1 and not discard all those lands.
Everything else just adds options if your zombies can't get through. Halimar Depths to scry a nonland out of the way before a hunt. Bojuka Bog for, well, you know... graveyards? And don't make fun of my Tomb of Urami... Its just there to give me something to do when I'm horribly losing. Not like it can really hurt the deck..?
I tested this deck against a few decent decks at a local FNM. Beat a really good Splinter Twin deck. Definitely Mulliganed to 4 cards on game 3 and kept Reliquary Tower, Gemstone Caverns, Treasure Hunt, and Zombie Infestation. Lets just say my turn 3 kill beat his turn 4 Splinter combo that game (and he even went first). :)
Got to test against GR Tron as well. Actually had one game where the nonbasic lands came in handy. Dude showed me his hand after I beat him down with man-lands. He had 4 Pyroclasms and 2 Oblivion Stones. Lets just say I'm glad I gave up on the Zombie tokens getting through after the 2nd time he killed them all.
I noticed Halimar Depths helped me many times where I could have been greeding and only gotten 2 cards off Treasure Hunt. Taking an extra turn to set up and not being overly greedy helped me win a lot of matches. Mutavaults and Faerie Conclave Definitely saw some combat; even Zoetic Cavern got in there a few times too. Didn't find a chance to play with Nephalia Drownyards, but maybe some day it will get its chance.
