Forgot to add last week's FNM report. Don't really remember the details besides I went 3-1 and lost the first round against control.
This week, I went 4-0 and got first place! (Just because I haven't stated it before, I play at Supergames Inc in Alpharetta, GA.)
Round 1 Esper Mill/Control (2-1) beat him down hard first and third game. Second game I totally misplayed and could have won by sacrificing everything to Bloodthrone while having Blood Artist out. He stalled with Rhox and Sphinx's Revelation.
Round 2 Esper Gatecrash deck? (2-0) she was using an odd aglamation of Gatecrash cards, forgive me for not knowing the names of the cards off the top of my head. She used the 1/1 whit battalion soldier and used that blue cipher tap card to try and lock me down. Also used the black/white enchantment (gift of the orzhov I think?) that gives flying, lifelink, and +1/+1 (foil too, best art in gatecrash).
Round 3 Jund (vampire?) aggro (2-0). He opened both games with Vexing devil and I opted to take the damage, and I generally out paced him. He played the gatecrash black/white 5/5 angel with the ressurection token mechanic. Rancor and scavenge tokens on a Dreg Mangler was able to keep it dead.
Round 4 Boros aggro (2-1). Close games. If he wasn't relying on getting battalion working (which he never did), I think the games would have gone much differently. Burn made my wins very difficult though. Won third game by using two side boarded Golgari charms to give my Geralf's Messenger -2/-2 when he was at two life. Amazing.
Next week, I want to try my new Naya Midrange deck I'm putting together (check it out in my profile if you're interested.). I'm not taking this deck apart, I may go back to it if Naya doesn't work out or I may let a friend who only has legacy borrow it for FNM. Thanks.
Edit: Just wanted to add that is was disappointing to not have any additions from Gatecrash in this deck. Hopefully, there will be some cool zombies from Dragon Maze. Fingers crossed.
