So yesterday i had my first short playtesting session and i was surprised how well the lockdown engine actually worked.
Nobody really expected such kind of deck philosophy and the first game against everyone was full of fetching, shocking and basically hurting themselves until they realised - that's not good at all.
First game - UWB Rogue Mill
Mill with little to no removal spells and basically just milling me - it was some kind of race but i had a great hand and goblin guide + molten rain + blood moon screwed my opponent alot.
Second Game - Mono Red Burn
I've been a little unlucky with draws, got destroyed in the first game but after sideboarding it was a quite even race and i made it to the third game - at the end of the day i still lost with somewhat like 0 to 4 life or something so it was really close, not bad at all.
Third Game - Melira Pod
I had the most respect for Melira Pod known as Tier 1 deck but somehow it turned out, that i have a surprisingly good matchup against Pod. Game one was literally just burning my opponent out with land destruction until i had him on 2 lands locked and that was game with a couple of burn and snapcaster beating
Game 2 was even easier when i dropped my blood moon turn 2 and had a goblin guide already going full ham followed by two molten rains on turn 3 and 4 he just conceded.
Fourth Game - Loam Seismic Assault
Game 1 was basically testing out how my opponents deck work, because i did not exactly know how those decks play in particular - i still managed to win game one with simple burn beatdown before he got his engine running.
Game 2 i screwed myself by boarding a little bit wrong
Game 3 was the hell of a close game.. he sustained my early pressure and managed to get me into topdeck mode while being not able to assault me because i kept pressure with mutavault and goblin guide + countermagic to hinder him from using loam every turn after 18 turns or something he finally won when i lacked a singleton of dmg to kill him.
All in all, to sum it up - I have to say i'm really looking forward into this project. The deck is alot of fun to play, it has a lot of tools to adjust the playstyle and the match ups seemed not so bad.
Also despite of running ZoZu and being the namesake of the deck, i consider trying to run fetchlands anyways because it was kinda difficult to get 2 islands after sideboarding when i chosed to play with blood moon.
