The Mana

Mana: Pronounced Ma-nah (Ma like March), it is a word of Polynesian origin meaning a pervasive natural (or supernatural) power or energy.

Manna: Pronounced Man-ah, it is a food provided by God to the Israelites in the Exodus.

It was said once that God helps those who help themselves, but Zur was never much a man of religion. He expected nothing from a higher power, but he had no intention to cease his quest of self-improvement. To him, it was that those who help themselves need no god nor man to save them.

He surveyed the lands below, his claims far and wide over the ice and marshes beneath. From the glaciers to the north he had drawn much Mana, though the chasm there had provided none. The south had prairies and marshes. Far Below him stood the ruins of an old city. Long ago it had been dedicated to him by his followers, but as time went on they had forgotten he was even real. They had worshiped him as a god, building churches in his honor, but now their courts stood empty and their card:drowned catacombs|catacombs full. Now he had only himself and his sanctum, his solitary tower in the sky, but that was how he liked it.

Armament

He floated in the dark sky watching the world, his staff glowing like a star to anyone who might look up. Being up so high at night was cold, but he had learned not to let it effect him. His magic kept him from truly freezing, and any discomfort he felt now was mild compared to what he had been through before. Now he wore the wind like an icy mantle, his layers of enchantments like an armor against the elements. He was immune to most things now, his millennia of work an aegis, shielding him from the woes he was once subjected to.

It was a solemn life so high up, but it was safe.
