Hey guys! I think most of you knew me by my first name ryanjoha. Well, as you can see, I UPGRADED :D.
So! A little about me.. I live way up north in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. I was first introduced to magic by a friend when I was in highschool around when ravnica block just ended and theros block was just starting. My first prerelease I attended was Born of the gods, where I pulled a Mogis, God of Slaughter at which I promptly sold it for however much it was at that point. My first "decent" deck was a U/B mill deck that utilized Traumatize with Keening Stone along with consuming abberation. After that got boring, I had a short (I mean really short) sprint in standard (basically I threw a deck that was standard legal together for giggles and shits and then scrapped it a week later). After that, I set my eyes on modern. I didn't have much money, but I did wind up starting an american control deck with cryptics and snapcasters when they were relatively cheap. I had no idea how to play control so I kept losing. So I scrapped the modern format and my buddy told me about a deck that didn't run lands. As most of you know, lands cost a lot of money in both modern and legacy, so I searched it up and it was legacy dredge. I loved it! that's about when I joined this site. So I sold my cards (when cryptic and snap spiked a bit) to build manaless dredge. At that point, I started attending sunday legacy tournaments at my LGS. I won quite a few times despite running landless dredge. My playgroup eventually got bored of playing against my deck as it usually came down to if they can get a Leyline of the Void onto the field or not. So we all set our eyes upon modern again. I eventually landed on storm, despite a few people telling me it's a waste of time. That deck is my baby and I love playing it every time I pick it up. No game is the same, every matchup is different. Recently I have been interested in new decks, since I have started working more frequently, I can treat myself here and there. So I have become interested in playing control, since aggro seems too linear for me. I started building blue moon, since my favorite card right now is Blood Moon, not just because it's super broken, but I like the art on the card and it's just super awesome.
Outside of the MTG community, I have a twin sister, and a younger brother, and a fat cat named Ziggy. I am currently trying to finish my second year of my bachelor of sciences at the Universite de Saint-Boniface, so yes, je parle le francais. My favorite type of alcohol is rum, more specifically captain morgan's spiced dark rum ;).
I am a very friendly person, so don't be shy to ask me a question, test decks, or just be my friend in general :)
