Deckling -

My cousin introduced me to this wonderful game when Fourth Edition was being released, back in the 90s. I stopped playing for a while after Mercadian Masques and have only kind of gotten back into it, in the sense that I don't really buy packs anymore, I just do singles.

The point of the decks I build, particularly here, is to create something that's fun to play against. You may lose, you may win, but my hope is that you will enjoy the experience either way, because the decks do relatively silly things. (I tend to stay away from Control decks for that reason; I find that Magic is most fun if both players are actually able to do things.) I'm a Johnny through and through, and will often build decks around a single card to the most logical extreme, regardless of whether the result plays well. I'm also budget-minded, and the vast majority of my listed decks retail for under $40.

In my mild-mannered, non-Magic-obsessed alter ego, I sing, write stories, write music, pet cats, and play Heroes of the Storm with my wife. And I am now working on some super-simple mono-color decks, and eventually simple guild decks, because we are about to bring a member of the next generation of planeswalkers into the world.

Bookrook, it is, but I have two college educations to pay for in 10 years. Spending it all on four pieces of cardboard seems... unwise.

KongMing, the only concerns I have about those spells are my budget. This deck is about 300% more money than I prefer to spend. Still, there is definitely an upgrade path for this deck, and I'd say those spells are on it!

I love this idea. I also love that, having read so many of your decks by now, I was able to predict exactly what I would find simply by reading the title and then looking at the card list. I had no idea there were so many less-than-$1 repeatable Proliferate sources!

My first thought was similar to Lando's: that Green would be helpful. But my main reason was to Rampant Growth our way to the Senate faster. You've got a lot of cards that help after the Elocutors are on the table, but the fact that I have to wait until Turn 6 to start firing off... Well, you've seen my decks and you know I love me my microbudget brews, but I've been able to hit wincon by Turn 4 in a lot of places. Also, while I'm not sure how much Repeatable Proliferate there is in Green, I think this deck is at least plausible in Simic.

My other thought was that I'd want some sort of fetch spell to find the Elocutors, and a lot of those come in Green (Adventure Awaits, Feral Encounter, Commune with Nature, Incubation / Incongruity, Lead the Stampede, Seek the Wilds). Of course, with a full playset, maybe I don't need this spell too often.

I did a version of this deck 19 years ago as the first deck I actually designed (as opposed to just being a pile). We were still in Legacy, so my version revolved around Furious Assault, but it's the same basic idea. Apparently, great minds think alike!
