Burst Lightning or Zektar Shrine Expedition are our only choices. I prefer Burst Lightning .

I am leaning Zektar Shrine Expedition We picked up burst lightning earlier, and I think we could use a strong/ cheap early game play, and so far it looks like we will emphasize red and burst lightning is only really good if we can commit 5 mana, making it more of a late game play.

we should be getting to the point where everyone has now seen a pack, so it looks like red is open and that original zektar-shrine should be comeing around the mountian

@tapanmeister Dude, disagreements are fine, but present arguments rather than just insult the dude.

April 5, 2010 4:52 a.m.

@Deckbuilder I would have preferred the zektar shrine several picks back but the living Tsunami's makes for a slower draft which means we are better off with the burst lightning as removal. Usually the Burst Lightning is still a better pick because it is removal and that is always good to have in limited. The Zektar shrine is a good card and given the record of drafters I see using it as opposed to living tsunami I think that a mistake was made previously (and for that reason I would love to draft against the Draft Lord just to see how well he does draft) but there really is little choice here. Burst Lightning it is. Can we move on, and as Hellgirl so ardently put it, NEXT!

i-never-said-that-there-weren't-good-cards-in-blue-(in-fact-if-i-am-drafting-www-i-find-mono-blue,-u/w-or-u/b-work-better-than-anything-else)-but-[[zektar-shrine-expedition hurts a lot and only things with first strike and burn hurt it. Of the things with first strike there are only two not in R/W and all of which cost a minimum of two.

KrazyCaley says... #24

I would normally be more worried about Zektar Shrine Expedition , but I don't think that anyone else is seriously making a run at red. Consider- Burst Lightning AND Zektar Shrine Expedition have both made their way around the entire table. Unless the players that are one or two spots to our left had REALLY excellent red rares/uncommons, and they are playing red, it's unlikely that anyone is serious about red at all, other than us.

April 5, 2010 6:23 p.m.

kabrazell says... #25

The problem with Zektar Shrine Expedition is everyone evaluates it as if it were in their opening hand. In this best case scenario you get a turn 5-ish 7/1 trampling token, which can be adequate on offense and strong on DEFENSE, though no one ever seems to see that application.

But look at it this way, a burst is good WHENEVER you draw it, and while it may be a less efecient use of Mana, it does 4 damage to a creature or player whenever you draw it, good in your opening hand, and good when you draw it 20 turns in.

This is why Zektar Shrine doesn't see play in constructed and SHOULDN'T see play in limited. If you draw it anywhere after turn 5 it might as well be dead in your hand because in ZZW the game will be over by the time you cast it, and then play three consecutive lands.

April 5, 2010 7:24 p.m.

tapanmeister says... #26

Zektar doesn't save you when it can't be activated. I'm not discounting it's devastating effects (7/1 trample is awesome!), it can be picked up, however, at a later time with a lesser sacrifice.

And damn right mono blue is awesome in www! Red got neutered in the depth of the worldwake common department. Thus, the more wwk, the less I enjoy playing red. U/w or u/b are wonderful combinations.

TAMA says... #27

@ Kabrazell I never said pick it over burst. I said pick it over Living Tsunami . Which I see as a fourth turn lock on yourself.

April 5, 2010 8:17 p.m.

tapanmeister says... #28

A solid point. The turn you save from this cheap air elemental is not going to help you unless you run ebt lands. If you're trying to cast a sphinx, Yeah, not such a great choice.

Burst Lightning get my vote.

April 5, 2010 10:35 p.m.

jjmacgrinch66 says... #33

@ mcshrubbery and crazycaley correct me if I'm wrong but its not so much reality or probability of this draft pack or pool. Based on what I've read in the past few draft debates some people don't know how to draft well or why to draft certain things or not some things. Or how to get "signals" from other players. I think this is a learning tool for the weaker drafters amongst us. And personalty I'm old school and I like to help more inexperienced players every chance I get. Its how I learned.

April 5, 2010 10:54 p.m.

mattlohkamp says... #34

Zektar Shrine Expedition versus Burst Lightning . Huh. You know, at the rate that red is NOT getting picked in this draft (which suggests the scary possibility that really good non-red cards are getting taken out before these packs make it to us) I'd almost hope to see that shrine make its way back around - but I can't imagine the same thing happening for other one. go go gadget Burst Lightning .

... and @tapanmeister - whoa, are you posting messages to me from the... posting past messages to fututre... what? what's going on?

haha that was obv my bad. I am not a prophet, nor a time traveler. The comment was directed at krazycaley, (who chewed me out for saying I'd like to draft with a certain individual who commented on this pick, so that his choices could benefit my draft deck) but I control copied your name instead of caleys, and didn't bother to correct myself.
