I agree on the Oxidda Scrapmelter , and with the blak and red myr we have i can see us playing 3 coulers if needed.

WOW! Great pack. Great chance that we'll also get Turn to Slag or Sunspear Shikari from this as well.
I agree that the pick is either Tempered Steel or Oxidda Scrapmelter . However, I think the pick is Tempered Steel . We KNOW we are playing white and we have 6 artifact creatures we are mainboarding (probably end up with 8 ish).
I think the pick is Tempered Steel , that's my vote. However, if we do go with the Oxidda... it's clear we are W/R with maybe a splash of black.

sad to see all this in the same pack. Oxidda Scrapmelter is the pick, unfortunately -- picking up that Tempered Steel would be great, but I'd rather get removal + the ability to knock someone else off metalcraft + a 3/3 body.

Tempered Steel and the rest are so good. I feel cheated picking Oxidda Scrapmelter .

It is either Tempered Steel or Oxidda Scrapmelter but I think a third choice is Palladium Myr .
With three playable Red cards in this pack, I agree that red is wide open and probably ours for the taking. The person that passed this pack to us took a common and I wouldn't me surprised to find out that said person is in Infect and took mot likely a Blight Mamba or something like that.
The thing I'm thinking of is which card (Scrapmelter or Tempered) will get the most use.
Tempered Steel -We have four Art-Creatures and 2 Glint Hawk Idol s. Of the four Art-Creatures we have two are Mana Myr and the other two our Perilous Myr . At the very least, picking up Tempered Steel puts our myr out of Arc Trail and non-metalcraft Galvanic Blast range. It also doubles our Idol's P/T which is mostly awesome. I'm just worried that that is all Tempered Steel will do for us. Mostly we need a big body sooner or later and if the body happens to be a Razorfield Thresher then hey, he'll get the boost too, and I'll feel a lot better about paying 7 mana for him.
Oxidda Scrapmelter - More removal of a heavily played card type might be too big to pass up. And that removal comes on a 3/3 body too! I think I'd rather take the Scrapmelter here since he'll knock out Artifacts in an artifact set. Also since we are most likely going to be R/W now for sure I'm less worried about losing our ArtCreatures to burn spells if we don't pick up Tempered Steel. Also, I don't think the Art Creatures we have at the moment are worthy of Steel.
The problem I see with this pack is that other then the Red and White cards in this pack, there aren't a lot of playables in other colors. I can see someone picking up Palladium Myr and the Contagious Nim going to the Infect drafter and POSSIBLY the Horizon Spellbomb will go but other than that I think we won't see some of the cards we want from this pack when it comes back around.
after all that I think I vote Oxidda Scrapmelter

If we are truly looking tri color then we very much need to consider the Horizon Spellbomb for mana fixing.
That said how we don't pick up the Tempered Steel is beyond me.... FOR SURE we are playing white with artifacts and this makes our agro deck a ton more viable....and it comes out on turn 3... how do we not choose this. It is in the only color we know we are playing for sure, and it pumps a ton of creatures. Hello 4/4 flying hawks? Um yes pls! we are nuts if we don't gobble this pick up. I think it has to be Tempered Steel I think people are trying to push red at the expense of the only part of the deck we have been consistently building in white which i believe is a HUGE mistake.
If you haven't guessed i vote Tempered Steel
Also to all those talking about red being wide open still. This pack doesn't signal that at all... come on guys there is 1 yes 1 card missing from this pack, hardly the zomg signal that red is wide open.

Also to further the argument for Tempered Steel ... The Oxidda Scrapmelter is great removal, but there are only 3 cards in this set that remove enchantments; Revoke Existence Slice in Twain and Sylvok Replica . Tempered Steel is a bomb for our deck that is not easily handled by ANY opponent. Much like True Conviction , albeit on a lesser level (and lesser mana).
I know it's a Shatter on a 3/3 body... but Tempered Steel makes most of our creatures at least 3/3 bodies...

And I know there are some rares that will destroy permanents, some bounce, and Volition Reins but my point remains that it's much easier to find removal of artifacts and creatures than enchantments.
Also remember we picked up our first Oxidda Scrapmelter pick SIX last pack... this draft has valued it way low. There is zero chance we see another Tempered Steel ... there is at least some chance we see another Scrapmelter.

Tempered Steel . I'd have made the same argument as exarkun809, we have a chance at seeing Oxidda Scrapmelter again, and +2/+2 is a huge effect. But honestly, THIS IS WHY YOU PICK THE ARTIFACT IN 3-1!!! I swear, its not worth going black at all. If anything in SOM, you go artifact and splash one, maybe two colors tops.
Stop thinking in the M11 mindset of cutting colors - intelligent drafters will be cutting artifacts (unless of course they've dedicated themselved heavily to infect), and we'll be getting stuck with the dregs unless we make smart, conscious choices. It's why i'm tempted to grab the Palladium Myr too, because theres no chance of it tabling, while theres the remote chance that no one will be in white enough to warrant the Anthem effect.
Necrogen Scudder , while a sick sui black card, generally finds itself floating in the bottom 8 picks because it only really synergizes with Grafted Exoskeleton , another uncommon, and because it isn't a safe pick with such an abundance of artifacts. It also gets completely shut off by Wall of Tanglecord .
W/B is going to be terribly painful to pull off and win with, especially if people here are actually considering maindecking Dross Hopper with all the other incredible options we have going for us in a very open artifact (and, hell, why not: RED) environment.

The arguments are good enough for me to admit i've made a mistake. I change my vote to Tempered Steel

there are to many good cards here. Turn to Slag , Shatter and Oxidda Scrapmelter are all great removal. Palladium Myr is nice.
We are really between 3 colors now anyway. Tempered Steel could be good too. honestly red seems wide open and Oxidda Scrapmelter is my pick.
