Glimmerpoint Stag seems the clear choice over the only other half-feasible options, card:Kemba's Skyguard or to a lesser extent, Silver Myr .

If I hear quick support for this pick, I'll move on.

stag makes a lot of sense. Skyguard could be good too... who likes the idea of finally a creature w/ a little beef with the thresher? Would it be too much to ask for 1 beefy creature? I suppose the stag does help with the poison matchups, and resets some of our other artifacts.... but but but... the beef... i am starting to get worried we may not get another one if we pass this guy up.... on the other hand the stag makes a lot of sense.

Glimmerpoint Stag has my vote.

Eventhough we allready have 1, this is a realy nice card, then turn u play it u get to remove a blocker, which let for free dmg. Any "enter the battelefield" will double (skyguard, if they turn pretty please, scrapmelter), it removes poision counters. 2nd it is a 3/3 body with vigi.

Dream draw would be: Turn 1: lifestaff Turn 2: the 2/2 with first/life if equiptet Turn 3: equipt, attack 3/2 first/life :p and any of our 2 drops. Turn 4: stag, removes a blocker Turn 5: stag, removes a blocker At this point u have a realy good board, with great attack, good def. and life gain, this would be hard to beat.

Regarding the "beefy" i dont think this decks are looking to run a 7cc, for me it lookes like we are going for W/R, 16 lands, 2 myr, and then keep it at 4cc (max 2 cards at 5cc) maybe a splas of black depending on what we might be getting in the next picks.

I will note that Stag is exceptional in this format because two of the four best pieces of removal are creature enchantments- Bonds of Quicksilver and Arrest .

Not sure this fits here, but here goes

Could Glimmerpoint Stag target our Arrest , to play it on another critter, say we used it on a light blocker, or a mana myr, and then 2 turns later "Evil" playes a bomb critter, and we then play Glimmerpoint Stag targeting the Arrest , to move it onto the bomb critter?

If so, this just makes Glimmerpoint Stag even better.

Glimmerpoint Stag

Resets our trigons, moves our auras, and and allows us to bounce our Scrapmelter. We can even remove -1/-1 counters with it.

3/3 isn't a horrible body either. Not exactly beefy...but not too bad.

Glimmerpoint Stag .

I love Glimmerpoint Stag ! awesome in this format and in standard. I use him in my u/w control. Venser, the Sojourner makes the stag infinitely more useful :)
