First, we have the results from honeymomo's interim challenge. Apologies for taking so long to put it up; totally my fault and not hers.
honeymomo says:
Thank you everyone for your patience as I graded the decks. Hosting a challenge is very difficult and I have to thank KC for doing it on a weekly basis! I learned a lot while hosting this challenge and really enjoyed the entries that everyone provided. To remind everyone the theme of my challenge was to make an Extended Pauper Combo Deck!
Honourable mention - Pauper Combo Challenge: PyroMax by lotusreport and Have fun storming the castle! by Selsenay.
3rd Place - ehh by I_Call_BS
The reason why this deck did so well was because it had removal. It could totally shut out a lot of combos from the other decks this way. The weakness was that it had tons and tons of land to feed Geopedes and Gear but it lacked card draw to get those out to go with the land. Journey of Discovery was AWESOME in combination with Geopede. Explore was also huge with the double lands from Ravnica. I loved playing around with that and a lot of creatures got huge really fast.
2nd place tie with equal points: Luminesnt Saprolings by Dr. McMeen
This deck performed well because it restored life and made so many chump blockers. The weakness was in the mana base because I didn't find myself needing Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse. They ended up slowing down the deck a bit. For an improvement Aura Gnarlid would of been awesome. A little card draw would of helped this deck along too as well as Boomerang. It was a very tight game for first place and I was surprised at how easy it was to turn out Saprolings. Bramble Elemental was huge in this deck and if two hit the table and it usually meant game over for the opponent.
2nd place tie, equal points - hand of fire by squire1
Once again, Squire has built an amazing deck. It did very well and was a lot of fun to play. The weakness of the deck was if a game were to go on for too long there wouldn't be anything to work with. The combo had to go off fairly soon or else it couldn't keep up with the other decks. It still played extremely well and much better than I had thought with only 10 mana. I really liked the burn!
1st place - Infinite Pauper by blueclay
The winner of my challenge is blueclay! Grats! Interestingly enough, this deck didn't have any removal. It was very easy to get the pieces together to pull of the combo. When I thought I was about to lose I would always manage to pull into the card that I needed (heart of the cards!). I would of rather had two Dizzy Spell and two Muddle the Mixture and less Sprout Swarm for it to run even smoother. I had a lot of fun playing this deck and I loved that the goal was to reach big Timmy creatures. Very creative and well thought out!
Thank you everyone once again! Marking decks and testing everything was a big job but Im glad that I hosted it and I hope everyone had fun!

Next challenge
Caley here. Thanks to honeymomo for hosting this interim challenge. Remember, every third challenge is an interim challenge made and graded by members of the Tappedout community OTHER than me. If you have a challenge idea, e-mail it to me at [email protected]. I know a couple of you who haven't gotten to do one yet are still trying; be sure to keep e-mailing me, as I a- have a very short e-mail attention span, and things get buried in my inbox very quickly, and b- I am a practicing lawyer who often ignores stuff unless it's right in front of me. And now, a commercial break.

The Rules
The rules of this next challenge
-
Except as provided in rule 2, your deck must be EDH-legal. "EDH-legal" is defined, and certain cards are banned at the end of the article. Also, if you have no idea what EDH is, I'll put that after I write these rules as well.
-
Instead of a legendary creature, your deck must have a general that is a non-legendary creature of common rarity. Your general may not be a card that has any triggered ability which is triggered when the creature comes into play. I will consider a card to be a common if it has ever been printed at common, even if it's been more rare in other sets/releases.
-
You may enter a maximum of three decks in the competition. Enter a deck by posting a link to it in a comment to this article. If you enter more than three decks, I'll only consider the last three you post, unless you specify another three that you want.
-
Deadline is 5:34AM, Pacific Daylight Time, on Wednesday, June 16th, 2010.

EDH rules and banned cards list
-
EDH is a unique Magic play format. Each player builds a 100 card singleton deck (no two cards in your deck can have the same name unless they are basic lands); all cards that are legal for Vintage are legal for EDH, except those that are banned. Each player designates a legendary creature in their deck as the "general." (In this challenge, I am forcing you to use a common non-legend with no "comes into play" abilities instead). The deck may ONLY contain cards that are wholly within the colors of the general. So for instance, if Nicol Bolas is your general, you can only have red, blue, and black cards. (No white or green cards would be allowed, even if they were only white or green because of hybrid mana symbols, etc.)
-
An EDH game functions like a normal Magic game with a few exceptions. First, you start the game with your designated general in the "command zone," essentially exiled. At any time, you may cast your general from this zone for its casting cost. If the general would go to the graveyard or get exiled, instead its owner may send it to the command zone. You may then cast it again for its casting cost plus a cumulative 1 for each time it has been put back in the command zone.
-
Players start with 40 life.
-
If a single General deals 21 points of damage to a player, that player loses the game.
-
Banned cards vary from group to group, but I am banning these for this challenge:
Ancestral Recall, Balance, Biorhythm, Black Lotus, Coalition Victory, Fastbond, Gifts Ungiven, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Library of Alexandria, Limited Resources Lion's Eye Diamond, Metalworker, Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, Mox Sapphire, Painter's Servant Panoptic Mirror, Protean Hulk, Recurring Nightmare, Sway of the Stars, Time Vault, Time Walk, Tinker, Upheaval, Worldgorger Dragon, Yawgmoth's Bargain.
Good luck, and remember that Craw Wurm is probably your best bet for a common general.

KrazyCaley says... #4
Per rule 2, the general must be a NON-LEGENDARY common. Ramirez DePietro can't be your general.

Not all that familiar w/ EDH so let me ask another question if your general is Black and white are the following legal lands? Since lands are colorless right?
Or is only 2 valid? or neither?
June 2, 2010 4:28 p.m.
KrazyCaley says... #6
Lands are colorless, so you're fine. In a B/W general deck, you can certainly use both of those.
June 2, 2010 5:09 p.m.
Actually, I believe that the EDH rules specify no mana symbols "on the card" that don't match the general, so Arcane Sanctum would be out for having a blue mana symbol on it.
June 2, 2010 6:13 p.m.
KrazyCaley says... #8
Just checked the rules. TridenT is correct. Arcane Sanctum would be banned for a B/W deck because the U symbol appears on it. Arid Mesa is ok though because no red mana symbol appears on it.

As a point of interest along the mana symbol on cards thing: If you choose a colorless general (like card:Ulamog's Crusher) you can't even run basic land in you deck. This is because all basic lands technically read "TAP: add a C to your mana pool."
Good luck to any who try that route!

With regards to a general in the 'Command Zone' if it has cycling can that ability be played and if it can does the cost of that cycling ability increase by 2 on each subsequent use or does it stay the same?
Either way this would be considered my first entry.

A couple points of clarification re: General damage: A player loses if a General deals 21 points of combat damage to a player. General damage is also specific to a General/player pairing.
Really excited to see an EDH challenge, whee!

re: triggered abilities- If a triggered ability OF YOUR GENERAL goes off NECESSARILY EVERY TIME the general enters play, then you can't use that general. Usually this will be "When x enters the battlefield, do something," but watch out for tribal stuff like Dormant Sliver - when Dormant Sliver enters the battlefield, you draw a card EVERY TIME.

Question, is the general included in the 100 cards and is "pulled" into exile at the beginning of the game? Or would there be 100 cards plus your general?
June 4, 2010 3:24 p.m.
I guess if I would have researched in the intarwebs, I would have found my answer: "An EDH deck must contain exactly 100 cards, including the General."
June 4, 2010 3:25 p.m.
My first, and as usual my only, entry. You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you. Soltari Trooper is the general.
