I came to post a Draft Debate update, but the Debate is still going, so instead, you get trivia questions. They are designed to be Gatherer-resistant. Some are pretty hard. If you're the first to get one right, you earn 10 Caley points. 100 Caley points can be exchanged for a Caley star.

Let's commence.

1- There are, appropriately enough, four cards that do exactly four damage while allowing you to split up that damage. What are they?

2- What was the first creature to have the ability that is now marked by the keyword reach? And also, were you like me when you saw the title of "Halo: Reach" and thought "Halo can block flying creatures as though it had flying"? If so, you get 2 Caley points for being a nerd to the max. Keep living the dream, baby.

3- There is a card where an elf is riding a dinosaur. What is it?

4- Nevinyrral's Disk is of course a reference to author Larry Niven via anagram. But which card is a reference to Magic's creator via anagram?

5- Start dividing your defenders into left and right piles, because here comes the only card that makes defending players do that. What is it?

6- When this creature goes to the graveyard, it has a triggered ability that effectively casts Telemin Performance on its controller. Even weirder, it's a green card. What is it?

7- The art is a faceless pair of eyes behind an angry snake. The card is?

8- Gabriel Nassif famously survived five of these.

9- Oh, and he also famously topdecked this after arranging his lands to cast it.

10- It's the only non-unglued card that cares about fractions other than "one half."

2 - Giant Spider from alpha which also included Web which gave creatures the same ability

3 - is Allosaurus Rider

5 -is Raging River

Saw the first post, but this is what I thought of when I saw the question.

IV. Phelddagrif

VI. Gamekeeper of course!

November 15, 2010 3:11 p.m.

birdseed says... #9

For #9, my guess is Snakeform . Only problem is, the snake doesn't look that angry...

November 15, 2010 3:42 p.m.

birdseed says... #10

number 7, my bad

November 15, 2010 3:43 p.m.

Zanven says... #11

3 is secretly Alpha Tyrranax . It was a fatal ride.

7 is Word of Command . (The snake is pure black)

November 15, 2010 3:56 p.m.

Zanven says... #12

An actual answer for 7 is probably Treacherous Link , now that I think about it. I prefer my joke answers though.

Ten is Traumatize

November 15, 2010 4:57 p.m.

JaceFace says... #15

No Squire1 is correct 10 is Pox

November 15, 2010 5:09 p.m.

KrazyCaley says... #16

The ones that have been solved:

1- [Pyrokinesis]], Pyrotechnics , Forked Lightning , and Violent Eruption .

2- Giant Spider

3- Allosaurus Rider is the one I had in mind, though it does look like Wildheart Invoker works pretty well too.

4- Phelddagrif indeed. (Garfield, Ph.D)

5- No one's right so far. Not that I blame you; this card is so obscure.

6- Gamekeeper

7- Unsolved. C'mon, people, you're not thinking old-school enough. Although, half credit for saying Word of Command and then saying the snake is black, Zanven . That was a most succulent lol.

8- Ignite Memories for five, with 9 life to start, a one mana card, a two mana card, and a four mana card in hand. And he LIVED.

9- Cruel Ultimatum

10- Pox it is.

8-

November 15, 2010 7:09 p.m.

Zanven says... #17

Yesss, half credit is like 5 Caley points.

5 is wrong, really? Damn, I would have thought Squire nailed it with Raging River . I'll have to put on my thinking cap. And by thinking cap I mean Gleemax .

November 15, 2010 7:15 p.m.

squire1 says... #18

yeah, really Raging River totally does that

November 15, 2010 7:39 p.m.

mongooseroar says... #19

7 is Psychic Venom .

November 15, 2010 9:15 p.m.

Zanven says... #20

Oh, for the love of...

Yeah, it definitely is. I even made a Psychic Venom deck one of the first times I played Magic. Doh. Good catch!

So I guess it's down to whether or not squire1 was right with the Raging River guess and it was missed, or if there's some other fiddly pile making card.

November 15, 2010 9:19 p.m.

squire1 says... #21

yeah it is. Can't believe I did not catch that, nice mongooseroar!

November 15, 2010 9:20 p.m.

foxetrot says... #22

is 5 Stand or Fall ?

November 15, 2010 9:47 p.m.

Zanven says... #23

Oooh. I believe it would be Stand or Fall , because Stand or Fall makes piles, and Raging River only requires you to put them to either side of the river (no specification of piles).

November 15, 2010 9:56 p.m.

KrazyCaley says... #24

Damn, I somehow missed where Squire said Raging River . It is indeed correct.

And yes, 7 is of course the Elder God card Psychic Venom .

leon_raymond says... #25

just read Caley's last post, there goes my hope of answering a question. Btw yes i was surprised when i found out that Halo could "block creatures with flying as though it had flying"

Also, i'm surprised that you didn't ask "what is Tarmogoyf and anagram for?"

I won't say the answer, just in case you're going to use that question in another trivia later, or in case if everybody knows it and i'm just slow on the uptake

MagnorCriol says... #26

  1. I got.
  2. I got, with the extra Caley bonus points (I do stuff like this ALL the effin time...ever see a beer advertisement saying that it's "the #1 draft choice"? Yeah.)
  3. I got the Allosaurus Rider but actually forgot the more recent Invoker. =p
  4. I never knew. I think I've heard about it, but didn't know - or didn't remember - that that bizarre little number was the card. Guess that explains the weird name, which always piqued my curiosity.
  5. Split between Raging River because it's the only one that says "left" and "right", and Stand or Fall because it specifically mentions defending creatures and "piles". But I had to look it up, so I don't know if that counts.
  6. I got.
  7. I had no idea. I got snagged imagining Ophidian , looked at that and then couldn't look at any more cards because I was busy basking in its majesty.
  8. I had no idea, but that's hilarious. Clearly the deck gods smiled upon him.
  9. See above.
  10. I didn't know this, but I should've.
Overall, 4/10, plus one halfway and two Caley bonus points...Not too bad an account for someone who didn't start til after Conflux, if I do say so myself. =p

2: Giant Spider

3: Allosaurous Rider

6: Gamekeeper

8: Ignite Memories

9: Ignite Memories

November 16, 2010 9:52 a.m.

sporkife says... #28

bahaha that Ignite Memories was epic...especially followed up with an Ignite Memories for...5? i think...and his opponent had 2 Dragonstorm and a Bogardan Hellkite in hand.

November 17, 2010 9:40 a.m.

Number 3 could be a few cards. Though, I suppose it depends on whether you classify any big lizard as a "dinosaur". In addition to Wildheart Invoker and Allosaurus Rider , which were already mentioned, I was thinking of Sylvan Messenger . But after digging for a few moments, I also found Elven Riders and Llanowar Knight .
