Perilous Myr A little surprised that made it this far. There are other acceptable picks, but the Myr is just so good.

Yeah I would say Perilous Myr . Painsmith and Ferrovore are both good, but we should just take an artifact, because we still need some.

I have to disagree, I think we need to grab Wall of Tanglecord . Having faced on in a draft, I know how hideous they can be to get around. Especially with their ability to gain reach.

Myr... MYRmyrmyrmyrmyrmyr.

October 12, 2010 12:32 p.m.

the myr should not here be an auto include. I think Leardawg makes a good point about the Wall of Tanglecord i also wonder whether or not we should be considering the beat stick? Razorfield Thresher could be an option as well... although i admit i am not as excited about the thresher. It could be that the myr is the way to go, but for now i think i am going to vote for the wall

we will have a chance to grab the wall later. THe myr not so much. GRAB THE MYR. (mind you teh wall is amazing and is one of the better limited cards.)(but its highly under picked. and the myr is one of the better limitid cards.

Perilous Myr for me.

October 12, 2010 7:18 p.m.

Just to be clear, the wall is not going to table... there are only 8 cards left in this pack, one of which is a land.

It is obvious that Perilous Myr is the pick. Painsmith would be a close second to the Myr, but the picks have all been white or artifacts so far so we can keep options open by letting him go. Wall of Tanglecord is not that great. Ferrovore likes consuming artifacts while a white deck in SOM likes actually having artifacts. Vector Asp is a decent card, but this is not the deck for it. Razorfield Thresher 's mana cost is a bit high, even in this format. Furnace Celebration is a decent card, but its place is not in this sort of deck.

But I bet there is another Wall in another pack

October 14, 2010 1:07 p.m.

Wall of Tanglecord actually is that great. If the opponent doesn't have any infect creatures, it is very very difficult to deal with the wall, also there aren't many fliers in this set either.

Razorfield Thresher is only over cost by 1 mana when you compare him to Craw Wurm and that is due to being colorless. We do need a beat stick or two to drive the game home in case the game goes long and he is a reasonable one to pick up.

In any event it doesn't appear i am winning many converts so i figure we make this pick and move on.

perilous myr. Sure razorfield is only overcost by 1, when you compare it to craw wurm. But craw wurm isn't very good either. So far the draft picks are geared towards a faster, more aggressive strategy. So drawing the razorfield would be a big detriment early on. There are better high cost cards to get.

As for the wall, sure it is a good wall but offense is often the name of the game and a wall does nothing for that. The theme of the deck seems aggressive so a really good small attacker/defender should be picked before a wall that may not even have reach (if we don't play green). Plus small artifact creatures always help towards metal craft, which makes it more better than the thrasher.
