card:Ghalma's Warden. I don't like the Thresher 7 Mana for 4 toughness...

Hate the Vampires or Quandry. card:Ghalma's Warden is a useless card for anyone. I vote Painful Quandary .

Hate draft the Quandry. That thing is vicious in limited. Though the fact that it made it all the way around makes me think nobody is going heavy in black.

I vote Razorfield Thresher . Everything eslse is useless. card:Ghalma's Warden has no chance of maindecking. We might have a lot of metalcraft in which case thresher will serve a greater purpose. It isn't fast but neither is SoM limited.

painful-quandury is just dirty. DIRTY.

painful quandary is the best card here, but since it's been made clear that we're playing white / artifact, we might as well take the Warden, just to cut white, and honestly, in a metalcraft deck, card:Ghalma's Warden is not a terrible card -- a 4/6 beatstick for 4 mana is fine.

I am somewhat torn here.... seems like 3 possible pickups.

Razorfield Thresher or card:Ghalma's Warden or Painful Quandary .

Beat stick artifact, white metalcraft, or black potent rare.... I the warden is out, just not that super of a card, and we have a chance to pick up a bomb, of which we currently have none, or a very strong rare, in what may be an open color. For these reasons i think i have to throw my support behind the Painful Quandary . The fact that it may be an open color, and that it is such a powerful card makes me think this is a very good choice and it may be that we want to move into black as our second color. At the very least i would hate to run up against it in an opponents deck.

I vote Painful Quandry. While a decent card, I've never been impressed by Ghalma's Warden in the drafts I've played. If we really want one Wardens will probably come around later. And metalcraft decks can also be very hard to pull off. We only have 2 artifacts so far, if that rate continued, that's 6 in the deck, it can be better to just assume you WONT be able to get metal craft.

However, Painful Quandry can really be a game breaker. Especially if we keep getting some flying creatures with invasion, so we can chip down the opponent's life total.

er invasion = evasion

I change my vote to Painful Quandary .

The warden isn't particularly good card, and in case we start taking black and/or metalcraft doesn't work out, it might be useful.

Im gonna change my vote as well...

I think that by cutting white we could be signaling which colors we are in and it could hurt us a little next pack.

As well as this by taking something else we keep our options open if we do get cut off from one of the 2 things (artifacts or white).

So for reason along the lines of i really want to see Painful Quandary work, i think we should go with that :P

October 27, 2010 8:25 p.m.

Sounds like Painful Quandary is the pick.

Cutting a color is actually a GOOD thing to do- it discourages the players to our left from taking our colors. Always always signal, since good players will not hate cards in your color until the very latest picks, and bad players tend to play badly, so no worries.

That being said, card:Ghalma's Warden is not a good enough card that passing it is a signal of any sort. It's just not aggressive enough. painful-quandry is also not aggressive in any way, and black is not a very good metalcraft splash as well. We ought to hold out for a splash of red, ideally, though blue or green could work.

Ultimately, I doubt we will be maindecking either card. Might as well take the painful-quandry, as I guess it'd kind of suck seeing it on the other side of the board, whereas card:Ghalma's Warden doesn't really matter much.
