Trigon, adds to metalcraft if you go that way, cheaper then the other Trigons and still playable if you don't go red.

otherwise Stag

Glimmerpoint Stag

first off 3/3 vigilance for four is always good. and he is in our color.

second He bounces things when he comes into play meaing. 1) he gets rid of -1/-1 counters (very important) 2) he un-equipes your opponents creatures (also very important) 3) any creature you have with enter the battle feild abilities. Say trinket mage. you get again. 4) And on the off chance we get a planeswalker it will reset them if they take allot of damage.

to continue he is a great card against two of the bigger archetypes in the format. (infect and equipment.) oh and hey your oponent think he is able to defned this turn cause he has metal craft? Well bounce the third artifact and swing.

Glimmerpoint Stag

For the reasons Xander574 listed. It can even be used to reset any Trigons we pick up later.

Glimmerpoint Stag is the pick for all the reasons above.

Tellin' ya'll. White.

thing with Glimmerpoint Stag is that it invests us more heavily in white, whereas right now we can only run a splash. Trigon of Rage doesn't put us in anything, and I'm gonna go with that.

I vote for the Glimmerpoint Stag the artifact is very very tempting however.

What we want to be doing at this point is cutting white as much as we can, the trigon is a bad pick here because we want to send clear signals. The stag is definitely the pick here, no question.

this is pretty much the pick that defines the draft for us -- either we get into artifacts now, and keep grabbing the best, and don't worry about colors until packs 2 & 3, or we grab a color now and cut it as best we can.

I think the beauty of this set is that with so many artifacts, we can hold off on color-picking until late. let's get the Trigon of Rage now. Glimmerpoint is good, but it's not a game winner. Let's hold off on getting into a color until we see something great. if that's not until pack 2, no big deal -- we'll have lots of great support cards and artifacts to back it up with.

Given what I have been taught by these draft debates, if you aggressively cut a color early, people tend to stay away from it later; I say we go for Glimmerpoint Stag and warn people off of white; there's a good bit of solid white in this set.

September 30, 2010 10:04 p.m.

I agree with the idea of cutting a color early. it makes sense to continue doing that here as we have been successfully cutting white so far and it will pay major dividends in the next round, when they pass back to us.
