Lots of great cards this time around as usual. So now it is time to vote for your favorites.

Voting Rules

  1. Each player should vote for their favorite card of each category (blue and blue/black) below. You may vote for cards by users or design team members
  2. Each player should provide feedback on the cards they vote for like possible changes.
  3. Each player may provide feedback on any of the other cards that are presented as well. Just be clear on what cards your are voting for and which you are simply commenting on.
  4. Design team members will not be voting, so if you do not like their designs and you all vote for something else, we will not win.

Other handy hints and things to remember

In this set there is no hybrid mana. Below is an article that shows all cards designed for Ulgris and an explanation of the shard for reference.

Flying Fish by SwiftDeath
Design team Comments and suggestions:

In general the design team did not like it having two types of evasion and flying did not really seem right for a fish, even though it is a flying fish. We suggest that it have with instead of flying.
Hidden Moth by warriorofgod13
Design team Comments and suggestions:

The design team liked this overall. It may bee a bit strong, since it can't really be killed very easily, but overall very good flavor and idea.
Poison Dart by Jarrod_0067
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Overall we liked this card. The design team had split suggestions. First it needs a p/t. We suggest 1/1. Then some people though a 4cmc would be better, others thought the -1/-1 should be until EOT. Others felt it could have an activation of "UB, T:".
Scour Mind by nightscape
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Some small tweeks suggested. one team member suggested it go on top of library not in hand. Another suggested that you should exile the top card of "your library" not "target player's library".
Thoughts Forgotten by ilikeoldcardsbetter
Design team Comments and suggestions:

This may be okay milling three cards. Something to keep in mind during playtesting.

Contagious Ooze by SwiftDeath
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Like this as is.
Fizzle by shadowdart
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Just needs some wordsmithing maybe, but good overall.
Stalking Toad by dude1818
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Good as is but could even be a 2/2 due to the ulticolored casting cost.
Taint Terrain by KrazyCaley
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Altering terrain fits a bit better in Irindu, but this makes sense too. Liked it as is.
Venomous AEther by shadowdart
Design team Comments and suggestions:

Liked it as is except the name. Aether does not really seem to fit here.

For blue cards, like Retaliatory Ooze. For blue-blacks, like Fizzle.

Blue: Thoughts Forgotten. We need more cards that appeal to casual players. This does that well.

Blue/Black: Fizzle.

Oh, before I forget, I'm in favor of upping the cards milled by Thoughts Forgotten to three.

I like mine, but I still do like Fizzle. Good simple card.

Blue: Atrophic Mists.

I feel it fits the shard its meant for. Fine as is.

Multi: Fizzle.

My suggestion is to let the player choose the creature they put it on. Maybe word it like this: "Counter target spell. If you do, that spell's owner puts a -1/-1 counter on a creature they control."

Otherwise a counterspell and potential removal packed into 1 card at 3 CMC seems a bit overpowered at uncommon. Also, it doesn't require 2 targets this way.

Actually I just reread and it doesn't require a target creature. So scratch that comment.

blue: thoughts forgotten. and im also in favor of making mill three but that might make it to good against creature heavy decks. like you said playtesting reveals all.

bue/black: contagious ooze.

U: Atrophic Mists.

U/B: Fizzle.

For blue, I vote for Thoughts Forgotten. It's a good mill card, which the set doesn't really have yet.

For blue/black, my vote is for Fizzle. Just a good all around card.

U: Thoughts Forgotten. Also in favor of three instead of two.

U/B: Fizzle.

Seems good. (On time this time, w00t)

U: I'm voting for Poison Dart here, as long as they make it a 1/2. It would be balanced and interesting at these levels. Part of me thinks upping the activation cost to 1B might be a good idea, though.

Flying Fish is pretty close, though. It needs the two types of evasion because it wouldn't make a shabby common otherwise. Also, how often do you see a creature with flying and a -1/-1 counter on it?

UB: I'll vote for Essence Transfer here. It's potentially a 2-for-1, like Maelstrom Pulse , but to be fair, it can only destroy creatures and not more versatile permanents.

Can't agree with Fizzle, though. Even if it had to target a creature to put a -1/-1 counter on, it's too close to a 2-for-1'ing unrestricted counterspell to my taste. Soul Manipulation only worked because of the restrictions on what it could counter.

Blue: Poison Dart. I think it should be Poison Dart Frog, though.

Blue/black: Stalking Toad. As 2/2 it seems good. I foresee a Frog tribal deck. :)

December 3, 2011 7:52 p.m.

U/B - Stalking toad - Personally, I think 2/1 is fine. two mana for flash, wither and a -1/-1 when it dies seems fair to me.
