Time and time again, we're always impressed with what our Tapped Out community has to offer! This card submission challenge was no exception. I'm serious when I say that you guys are incredibly talented at pushing the design envelope and discovering new ways to find interactions between themes and mechanics. So, just thanks for being so awesome! Now, let's get some formalities out of the way before we get to the top card submissions.

Voting Rules

  1. Each player should vote for their favorite cards below. Vote for two black cards. You may vote for cards by users or design team members.
  2. Each player should provide feedback on the cards for which they voted, such as possible changes.
  3. Each player may provide feedback on any of the other cards that are presented as well. Just be clear on what cards your are voting for and which ones you are simply commenting on.
  4. Design team members will not be voting, so if you do not like their designs and you all vote for something else, we will not win (which is fine).

To help with your decisions, this link will give you some background about Chavest:

Alright, here we go. Take a look at these card designs and vote for your favorites.

Demon of the Wastes by burkek
Design Team comments and suggestions:

The connection between Zuran Orb caused some concern with the level of brokenness here. Suggestions included adding a mana cost and/or a tap requirement to the ability to limit the number of times it could be used at one time.
Keeper of the Book by Bingbing
Design Team comments and suggestions:

Design Team suggestions included changing the creature type to an imp, human, or viashino since it's too small to be a demon. Another suggestion was allowing the ability to trigger when any land goes to a graveyard from the battlefield to interact with land destruction (rather than just using your own land as a resource).
Wicked Accomplice by esterk
Design Team comments and suggestions:

The Design Team had no suggestions for this submission
Vile Imp by IronHead
Design Team comments and suggestions:

Some Design Team members preferred this as a 2/2, while others liked it as a 3/3.
Rancid Imp by ilikeoldcardsbetter
Design Team comments and suggestions:

The Design Team preferred this as a 1/1.
Imp Clodflinger by landot
Design Team comments and suggestions:

The Design Team would like this card to give the target creature -2/-2 instead of dealing damage to it, since that will make it feel more black.
Chavest Lowlife by IronHead
Design Team comments and suggestions:

One Design Team member was hesitant that this may be too powerful, while another Design Team member wanted to give it some kind of evasion.
Extortion by zandl
Design Team comments and suggestions:

One Design Team member felt that the option was not necessary and that the opponent should just have to lose a life (similar to Bloodseeker)
Marsh's Grip by Numbplayer
Design Team comments and suggestions:

Everyone on the Design Team wanted to change the converted mana cost. Some wanted to have the card cost B, while others wanted the card to cost BB with the land sacrificing being an alternate cost. Either way, we really didn't want it to cost 0.
Demon's Grip by Zarum
Design Team comments and suggestions:

The Design Team didn't have any suggestions for this submission.
Cursed Ground by IronHead
Design Team comments and suggestions:

The Design Team didn't have any suggestions for this submission.

Keeper of the Book and Demon's Grip.

I see no changes that need to be made to either.

Demons in magic have typically been fatties, both mechanically and flavorwise. I don't think the small guys should have the demon creature type imo.

This is just a comment:

Keeper of the Book can easily be changed. I just liked the idea of an old, small and frail demon guarding and interpreting Chavest's holy relic.

It was designed as "into your graveyard" as firstly, it would clash with Priest of Purgatory, which exiles permanents from opponents' graveyards, and it felt wrong to have two cards from the same sphere clashing so badly.

Secondly, having it trigger on all lands is likely to make it a bit too strong. Mass land destruction in multiplayer games will routinely let you take one opponent out of the game. It'll also tack on 2 damage to every double-edged bit of land destruction you use.

I think Chains of Chavest should be reworded a la WarmongerMTG Card: Warmonger and co.

i.e. Sacrifice a land: Attach Chains of Chavest to target creature. Any player may activate this ability.

Extortion and Wicked Accomplice (the latter could be the most flavorful uncommon in the all the challenges so far.)

Chains of Chavest and Keeper of the Book for me.

chavest lowlife and extortion. I think both are fine as they sit currently.

I vote for Demon's Grip =)

I also like Demon of the wastes if there was something attached to the end like "activate this ability no more than one a turn and only on your turn."

Wicked Accomplice and Chains of Chavest.

Disappointed not to any bigger demons or Halo of Corruption in here though. And, while I love the design of Wicked Accomplice, it would probably also be fine as a common (especially if it was red). See Sootstoke KindlerMTG Card: Sootstoke Kindler, Inner-Flame AcolyteMTG Card: Inner-Flame Acolyte, and many Crimson WispsMTG Card: Crimson Wisps variations.

Demon's Grip and Chains of Chavest.

Both allow lots of options for creature pandemonium on the board, and in order to combat them effectively the other player has to take "risks" just like the style of the black player using them.

I really like my design on Wicked Accomplice, even if I do feel like a jerk voting for it, lol. drools at the thought of it existing

My other vote goes to Cursed Ground. Seems like great card to turn the tables!
