I wouldn't call any of these very good but I'm leaning towards either HumbleMTG Card: Humble or Disciple of GraceMTG Card: Disciple of Grace

This is hard. I am unfamiliar with these cards, but since we have no bomb's in here, i would go with removal. We have Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning, BefoulMTG Card: Befoul, and Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace. Pendrell FluxMTG Card: Pendrell Flux could probably be considered removal. But I figure we should narrow it down to these.

My vote's for BefoulMTG Card: Befoul, but I'm not familiar with these sets too much. It's the best black card and removal; the other black in this pack is unimpressive, so we have a chance to cut black.

In this combination of sets, White and Blue commons totally blow compared to the others, so we need to avoid getting tricked into those colors unless we see something really good. For me, it's really hard to choose between BefoulMTG Card: Befoul, Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning, and Argothian SwineMTG Card: Argothian Swine. If I had to make a decision, it would be to pick BefoulMTG Card: Befoul and hope the Swine comes back around.

I don't know the set. I'm torn between the good removal spells like Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning or Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace, and Pendrell FluxMTG Card: Pendrell Flux which is either removal or locks the enemy mana down, depending on their choices. I'll go with path though, because it's bog-standard removal.

February 27, 2012 2:42 p.m.

Also, on BefoulMTG Card: Befoul. The double black means it's not something we could splash for later, and doesn't target black creatures, so I think path is better.

I'd have to go with BefoulMTG Card: Befoul. These sets seem to have a decent bit of regeneration, which makes befoul a little more effective than Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace or Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning. Oh, and it can also destroy lands.

As far as personal preference I'm looking at Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning. Red should be pretty strong if my guess at the format is correct and a two-for-one is a two-for-one. This pack has good removal in multiple colors (which are also the most appealing cards in the pack), so regardless of what we pass now, we need to keep it in mind for later.

February 27, 2012 3:46 p.m.

My thoughts are thus.... BefoulMTG Card: Befoul or Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning or Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace are all good choices. the lightning is double removal... which makes me inclinded to move that direction... befoul is the most color intensive since it only kills 1 creature making the effect perhaps just too color intensive... i don't think we will be splashing anything like we did last time around because splashes with no fixing don't work well... for those reasons i am wondering if perhaps Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace might not be a solid choice. It has the least color comittment, and could be our secondary color with the primary being something else... But i can't see having a small splash with the sets choosen.

Further we will have very little card synergy from any of the sets because they are pretty much all so very different. In such a scenario we should be expecting to go heavy into beat down mode. Thus we should be drafting a deck similar to the one we did last time around. I think we need to consider a creature heavy deck and possibly an agro deck. I like the idea of taking the red card because i think red creatures with some burn could go a long way in this draft environment. Depneding on how things shape up i could see red black or even red/white being strong choices.

I choose the Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning in the hopes we can build a valid burn /agro deck... and maybe we can nab a Shivan DragonMTG Card: Shivan Dragon when we go to beta! Second choice is the Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace

I'm changing my vote to Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace. It kills almost any creature regardless of color or p/t, is less mana and less likely to back fire on us than Jagged LightningMTG Card: Jagged Lightning and less color intensive than BefoulMTG Card: Befoul

I just realized there are four decent White cards in this pack.

HumbleMTG Card: Humble can be used as anti-bomb, Disciple of GraceMTG Card: Disciple of Grace is anti-black, Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace is pretty good removal, and Rune of Protection: WhiteMTG Card: Rune of Protection: White at least stops white from ruining your day. I think we can guarantee that either the guy to our left, or second to our left, will be in White. And Disciple/Rune have the added utility of not being dead cards in unfavorable matchups due to Cycling.

Looks like we're narrowed down to either Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace or BefoulMTG Card: Befoul. If you want to switch your vote to one of these from something else, or have other thoughts to add, I will allow a bit more time for that.

February 27, 2012 7:06 p.m.

ok i toss my support then from the lightning to the Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace

I think black seems to be a stronger colour in USG and LEB, and a colour investment in it may not be unreasonable. PestilenceMTG Card: Pestilence is a common in both USG and LEB, after all!

I'd like to vote for BefoulMTG Card: Befoul

February 27, 2012 7:26 p.m.

If we grab anything in White, Black, or Red, we are not sending strong signals. However, Black and White both have good cards that are likely to come back around. Assuming we take Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace or BefoulMTG Card: Befoul, there is a good chance this pack will still have something to offer when it tables.

On the other hand, if we grab Pendrell FluxMTG Card: Pendrell Flux, we are giving a strong signal in Blue. And we know KC likes his blue. P flux isn't the strongest card in the pack, but I'm surprised no one has even mentioned it, yet. It seems like a good way to slow an opponent down and it requires minimal mana investment. Since there's no gotta-have-it bomb in this pack, I think strong signaling gives that pick a little extra edge. Just something to think about...

In the end, I'm going to have to vote BefoulMTG Card: Befoul. The mana cost doesn't scare me. I like the option for land destruction. I like the black in this pack.

I'd like to cast my vote for BefoulMTG Card: Befoul as well. It's better removal than Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace, and the heavier commitment to color is fine, as I get the impression that black is going to be an overall better choice than white for this draft.

I'd say BefoulMTG Card: Befoul before Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace. If you draft Path of PeaceMTG Card: Path of Peace, and start commit to white, someone other than you may take that Rune of Protection: WhiteMTG Card: Rune of Protection: White. The more black you draft, the less likely someone else is, and therefore the less likely you need to worry about black creatures that can't be BefoulMTG Card: Befouled.
