Alright, the votes are in and we now have three more cards to add to our community set!
The Challenge
Next, we're looking for entries to fill the rest of Chavest's uncommons. We need to design two mono-white uncommons.
Rules
- 1. For this challenge, each member of the community may submit four cards.
- 2. Each card must strictly follow the color restrictions.
- 3. Each card must be an uncommon.
- 4. While the casting cost must fit these specifications, activated abilities are allowed to use any combination of Chavest's colors (black, red, and white) if you so choose. Hybrid mana is NOT allowed.
- 5. Cards submitted may be creatures, enchantments, instants, or sorceries.
- 6. All submissions will be graded on:
- a. Creativity - As you may or may not realize, different players look for different things in cards. One thing that many players look for is new interactions and situations in gameplay. This allows players who have been playing forever (such as the Design Team) to still find the game interesting with each new set.
- b. Power level - Power level is often one of the biggest roadblocks to design. now that we are at uncommons, we should want to play the cards that are designed but not think of them as musts. Unlike the rares, many of which the design team wanted playsets of the submitted cards. The uncommon cards must be strong but not too strong. Also, consider pricing. You would not want an uncommon to cost $5 because it is so wildly popular.
- c. Flavor - I know that some competitive players would still play if the cards had no art or flavor or story and they were just had numbers for names, but most players like the whimsical flourish of flavor, so keep that in mind.
- d. Usefulness - What is useful? Why is it useful? Will your design be useful in every format (probably not, but maybe)? Will your card create interesting interactions and synergies? Does it have an effect on board complexity? Does it effect tempo? Whatever the answers to these questions are, they are essential to answer for yourself. Without a vision of why a card is being created and what it lends to the game or potentially detract, then it is difficult to balance it.
- As with all uncommon challenges. Each design team member will now be presenting the 1 card per color per design team member for voting along with the other top cards presented. In order to make it unbiased, we will continue to stay out of the card voting, so if no one votes for our cards, we can not win. Also our cards will not be evaluated along side everyone else's, they will only be revealed during the voting articles so that we do not compare your cards against those designed by design team members. Basically it will work the same as always, except you will see 3 additional cards to vote on if you wish. So if you do not like our ideas or just don't want design team cards winning challenges, do not vote for them and we won't. If there is an outcry for this idea to stop altogether, it will.
Extra Information
To see all of the cards that have been designed for this shard so far, as well as the story and shard description please see this article. http://tappedout.net/mtg-articles/2011/sep/5/community-set-chavest-summary/ Also keep in mind what is missing from the shard. Do we need more creatures? Small or big spells? etc.
All card submissions are due by midnight on Wednesday, March 14th, 2012.

The OBjection says... #20
I believe the beginning of the ability is phrased "it whenever a permanent would be put into bla de bla?"

Death by shame - 1WW sorceryAny creature that was blocked last turn and did not deal lethal damage dies at the end of this turn.
Idea is something like that of seppuku. It's a non-target sacrifice~esk effect that kinda counters the cleave effect. Name and mana cost are completely up for debate. Could need to cost more thou since it could blow up more than one creature.
Albino Vanguard - 2W - Vlashino cleric 1/3If target permanent deals non-combat damage to you so long as it is a creature, Albino Vanguard deals 2 damage to that permanent. If damage was from non-creature permanent, Albino Vanguard deals 2 damage to that permanent's controller This damage is considered combat damage.
Again another anti-cleave card. Kinda like the backwards effect of preventing damage that most clerics have. Also added the last sentence so that there wouldn't be a war of vanguard combing off each other.
Ash-Summoned Imp - WW - 0/1 - ImpProtection from Red. Ash-Summoned Imp enters the battlefield with 4 +1/+0 counters on it. When Ash-Summoned Imp attacks, it loses a +1/+0 counter at the end of turn. If this card blocks or becomes blocked, sacrifice it.
4/1 swing on turn 3 might be over the top, but I figure it's going to die fast. Prot red just makes flavor sense as ash is what's left over after a fire so it can't be burned again.
Knight of the Ruler - 1WW - 4/4 - Human KnightIntimidate, Defender. Pay 2 life: Knight of the Ruler loses defender til end of turn.~While his job is to defend you, he will risk pain to smite those who mock him.~
4/4 for 3's are always fun. I mean when I think of knights, Mercenary Knight and Arrogant Bloodlord always comes to mind. Just tried to bend the flavor around the set for this one.
Hope you guys enjoy these.

Wall of Purity 3WW
Creature - Wall
Defender, Shroud, Lifelink
2/5
Too ppowerful? Maybe so....
March 12, 2012 6:22 p.m.
Umbrothe, Wall of Denial acts somewhat similar to yours. And for the cost, it could almost be considered a common.
March 13, 2012 6:36 a.m.
UmbrotheUmbreon says... #34
I figured the lifelink would make it slightly powerful, as well as the fact it can't be targeted. On top of that can kill any creature with toughness 2 or less.
It originally had Defender, Flying, Lifelink, but changed it cause the card really didn't "fly" Hmmm if that wasn't pwoerful enough then I have another from my set I could try.
Shrine of Blessing 3W
Legendary Enchantment - Shrine
Level up WWW
3-7: At the beginning of your upkeep, gain 1 life for each creature you control.8+: At the beginning of your upkeep, gain 3 life for each creature you control.
March 13, 2012 6:56 a.m.
Unfortunately this set doesn't have level up or shrines though... Also, I don't think the power level on the wall is a problem. And maybe it's too early to start discussing cards, but I quite like EpicWin66's 2 cards - on Blessed Knight, lifelink goes really well with cleave - they want to block it to stop you gaining life, but you still deal damage to them & gain more life!
Yohation Guards (also by EpicWin66) makes sense as a Black-inspired white common (or a white inspired black common), if the damage dealing is changed to lifelink. It's an interesting riff on Pride Guardian /Goldenglow Moth .
March 14, 2012 10:31 a.m.
Crusader of a lost Art - 2W
Creature - Human Knight
Lifelink, vigilance, cleave 2
1/3
