I thought we could make a TappedOut Tournament for the fun of it. We could use Cockatrice as game platform, since not everyone has MTGO. If you're interested please sign up here, if we have enough players we can start arranging it. Also, if you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to post it here (:
So, the rules are the following:
- Every deck is allowed as long as it's legal in it's format and it's on TappedOut, you do not have to have the cards in real life to play them.
- Once the pairings are out, each player arranjes the best date with it's opponent in order to prevent Time Zone differences. You have one week to have your match, if not, it counts as a loss for both players.
- If a player does not reply in time to his opponent it also counts as a loss, giving the win to the opponent. In the event of such case there should be evidence (print screen) that one of the players did not reply.
- On each round there will be one format of the following: Legacy, Modern, Standard. Other formats may be added if everyone agrees.
- After each round you should report to results to me via pm or email ([email protected])
Some people have suggested to make multiple tournaments with one format each and then have the ''Best of the best'' tournament, where the top 8 of each tournament will play, if it's agreed by everyone, this shall be made as well.
Again I remind this for fun, an opportunity to bond TappedOut members and play some magic. All players must respect other players and be nice and fair, disrespecting these rules will get you disqualified from the tournament.
If i have some money, which i doubt i will :/, i may purchase some feature tokens to distribute to the winner(s) of the tournament.
If you have any comments/suggestions and/or are willing to help me with the tournament please do so, you are more than welcome.
I'd be interested in standard. Maybe even a draft would be fun.

Since I usually play on Cockatrice anyway, I'd definitely be interested :)

KrazyCaley i'd love to help ya out, what did you have in mind? i'm all ears (:
btw, some people have suggested to make 2 rounds per week, i think they're right, so the change applies :p
February 19, 2013 7:13 a.m.
It would have to stay 1 round a week for me. Schoolwork will always come first as I pay out of pocket and am trying to maintain a good GPA, but I think I'd be able to get one match in a week.
Different categories would be nice, but if we have to do all the formats, I could. I'd just have to find and quickly learn how to play some decks. I guess I could tweak some of my older decks up.

yeah, if we switched categories every week I think quite a few people would be netdecking (myself included for some formats) though a top 8 vintage vs standard might be a little one sided

formats/dates/pairing will be posted once we have a decent number of ppl wanting to participate and all the rules are figured out
February 19, 2013 2:41 p.m.
I am in, for every format (except maybe legacy, but I'm sure I'll throw together a reasonable deck for that). Draft would be awesome too.
February 19, 2013 5:09 p.m.
Unrelated: It would be REALLY awesome to do a sort of "draft debate" thing, but with every player being a hive mind. Like, people would enter, and be allocated randomly into 8 teams, and then make descisons on draft picks and eventually tourny plays. I'd love to see debates on individual plays.

thanks for the suggestion Glycan, that sort of suggestion will be taken into account when we start and me, and hopefully anyone willing to help, can debate wether or not to include it, but duely noted (:
an awesome thing that backs up your suggestion is the match recording, after each match a pannel of commentators could examine each play,is that what you're saying?
as for the deck thing, the only rules are for it to be legal in the format, and featuring on tappedout, doesn't have exactly to be your brew (:

I'm totally down for this. Standard is my weapon of choice. I agree that there should be tournaments for the many different formats to allow players to play what they are used to and enjoy playing.

also, out of curiosity, would it be easier to use LackeyCCG or Cockatrice? I personally prefer lackey, though I guess I can't speak for everyone else.
February 19, 2013 8:15 p.m.
I have never even heard of Lackey, so I would do Cockatrice, but I suppose it's up to you and your opponent do decide.

Also it would be awesome if we could do this on the weekend in the afternoon EST, so people from Europe can participate!

in response to Wolfking3000 i believe Cockatrice is more popular, i didn't even know until Lackey existed until you mentioned it :p

AyeDavanita10 Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy them. I'm surprised so few people know of Lackey. I really only like it more because I have more experience on it, so playing on cockatrice really isn't a big deal. Do we have a ball park idea of when this tournament will kick off?

I might be up for it but I will have to redownload cockatrice.

By my count, 21 people have expressed an interest in this (including the ones from the original forum). Is that enough to move forward?

i'm still working some details with KrazyCaley, but as soon as we're ready to move forward i'll announce it

I would be down for Legacy, Modern, and Standard. just give me a heads up if I can or cannot.
February 22, 2013 9:40 a.m.
I would be in for some standard fun, would really be interested in a draft as well. This is a really cool idea.
February 22, 2013 12:22 p.m.
standard please, if you didn't see the other forum.

I'd be interested in Modern or Standard. I love testing out my current standard deck, so I'm on cockatrice enough anyways. Legacy, I could do, but I'd need to try and get used to the deck that I'm currently interested in. Keep us informed on how this progresses. =D
February 24, 2013 12:01 a.m.
modern and legacy. I'm in. Hell I'll even play Vintage if anyone else would like to for kicks. Particularly since we don't have to actually own the cards

There will be a post tomorrow. Basically we are contemplating either
a - Some friendly, informal tournaments.
b - A single huge, grand-scale super-tournament that would be awesome, but possibly very impractical.

Hang in there, folks, almost ready. Decided, why agonize over which format to choose when I could just ask you guys? Post soon.
February 25, 2013 7:29 p.m.
Standard, would definitely be my fav choice to play.
February 25, 2013 7:31 p.m.
NoSkillManiac says... #50
Standard and Modern are going to be the highest choices. If I had to favor one over the other, I would say Standard. But I would enjoy playing Standard, Modern, and Legacy.
February 25, 2013 7:41 p.m.
Bigburlybill says... #51
My vote is for standard. Modern will be a close second.

To everyone who has signed up, please go here and vote on the option you would prefer. Thank you very much (:

I have a suggestion. I have had a project in mind somewhat similar to this one. It would be a somewhat bigger experience than just a tournament, and it would definitely have feature token rewards, and you wouldn't have to buy them. You want to combine efforts on this? I would like to hear what kinds of tournaments you wanted to run and how you want to run 'em.
