It's been a ridiculously long time since I have written any article for Tapped(Real life kind of sucks, I deal), but that is about to change! I always love community input on my decks so it just feels right to ask for the community's help once more.

I'm calling all users to post, in the comments below, a casual Modern deck that they're proud of to be used against homebrew decks that I create for a bi-weekly(weekly?) segment that I will debut in April.

I'll be piloting my deck against a randomly selected community deck that a friend will pilot each segment. The duel will be showcased in the style of KrazyCaley's Daily Dose of Standard articles, but more Modern!

If you'd like your deck shown in my article series, post 'em!

The next article in this series is Tribal Council

Color? Meh. Not the greatest deck but it sure is fun.

Doesn't have to be great, just has to be one you're proud to call your own!

Vampiric Rapehouse

It's a deck I've been tweaking an perfecting for awhile, although it may have a problem with certain Modern Meta decks, I really am proud of this deck because it isn't your run of the mill vampire swarm deck, it's got a lot of flavor and I just really love it.. it's my baby.. <3

I don't know if we are allowed to post more than one, but my two favorite decks I've ever made are my mono-red goblins: Gobbys Galore, and my mono-blue mill deck: Mill-a-riffic!. They both perform really well in casual games, and they don't do too shabby at modern events in my local FNM. If either of them get picked, I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do!

I'm curious, and I wanted help with this deck (as I'm very new to Modern) but haven't received feedback for it so far. It needs help and suggestions more than anything, but I'll put it here too.

Digging For Death.

I would love to see my casual modern decks Chronollusions and The Great Wall of Selesnya played against whatever ye be brewing.

One is mono blue based around an all time favorite card of mine (Chronozoa ) and the other is a defender-based heinous acceleration deck that wins with a massive Gelatinous Genesis

My modern deck has not been really seen since the first ravnica... here it is. Who needs friends? It's a dimir deck that works with Leyline of Singularity and the first ravnica block hunted creatures. back in 2006, it got my opponent to flip a table and ask me to fight... for real.

20+ Damage on turn 3? LOL (Sideboard Added) has been a very popular deck that I built. Might be worth looking into for an article as it was a pretty big hit with the website.

This is the story of my life...haha. All it needs is an Obzedat...lol.

Life From The Stinkweed Scholar's Birthing Ooze

It's BUG and Birthing Pod and Necrotic Ooze all wrapped into one. Casually competitive and Johnny-tastic.

And Boom Goes the Dynamite. and Quest for the Spinning Temple are both unconventional modern decks that could be some fun.

Define casual.

March 27, 2013 12:24 p.m.

My most recent modern contraption is a DuskCrank deck.

Right now its heavy control but I am thinking I may go the Aggro Mill route in the future. It's nice to have the option to side in aggro components if you feel the combo will get hated on game 2.

March 27, 2013 2:39 p.m.

The Vat is Back or The Crafter are both modern legal and WAY way way too casual for their own good.

Actually....Leafs_suck i think you played against any earlier incarnation of The Crafter with your illusion deck yeah?

March 27, 2013 3:33 p.m.

also I think i lot that match 1-2? Although I really can't recall.

Allies and stuff is fun and requires some math...

Rakdos Burn is my favorite as its super fast and fun.

These are my modern decks. Do what you will with them.

I wrote this decklist a long time ago and then never got around to tuning it or even building it. Does that count as "casual"?

While I ama Mirran at heart started back in the original block with the Broodstar Intro Deck I've been a fan of Magics and Blue/Black and here is a very fun build that came up between my friend and I. While a True Affinity deck couldn't happen in Modern due to the bans, I found a way to work around it with Relic Fortification

What about my Modern legal infinite combo deck? A Hard Pil(i-Pala) to Swallow?

March 28, 2013 7:36 a.m.

It would be interesting to see it get more extensive playtesting outside my regular group (which is mostly casual) now that Cockatrice is down..

To me, "casual" usually means any combination of:
A)deck that isn't good enough to compete with Spike/Tournament decks,
B) uses sub-optimal cards for flavor or synergy reasons, or
C) doesn't try to beat a metagame.

So here are a few of my bad decks!

Fishy combo deck: Merfolk of the Mantle
Goblin-y Sensation Gorger beatdown insanity: Gorge ALL the things!
Doran-y graveyard jank: Día de los Dorans

March 28, 2013 11:42 a.m.

Yeah my last post (darth mill) may have been a more serious control/infinite combo deck than you were looking for.

Here is what I have been playing just for Lulz Arachnomancy

Spiders tribal, believe it or not its been pretty darn effective even against my friends serious decks. Have some fun with it :)

Sounds like fun! I'll submit my Deathly Pingers.

I thought I'd have to adjust it to make sure it was Mordern legal, but then as soon as I switched the format type, TappedOut listed it as legal with no changes... so here you go.

I figure it won't hurt to toss my hat into the ring:

DCI Banhammer

This deck may be budget, but damn it's fun. The look of frustration on my opponent's face when they either topdeck lands or topdeck "banned" cards is just icing on the cake.

Ive just put this together and am looking forward seeing some real play with it. Defense or Primordial Hydra swinging for 20+ on turn 5 seems like a fun time to me. Not to mention you arent going to do much damage as this deck promotes a good offense comes from a good defense.

Haha this thread really took off, great job Ian.

If you are still taking entries, you can use my The Western Way of War knights tribal that has caused you so many headaches in the past ;)

Do you have a system for cataloging the decks that are submitted and drawing a random one?
