Ultimate Guild Challenge: Boros finals!
Welcome back to this, the final article on UGC: Boros, where we will see the play-by-play match of the two finalists, TheLameSauce (Concerted Boros) and CaveShinobi (Righteous Rushin')!
I must apologize for the delay of the article, I wish I could get these articles out regularly, but unfortunately, real life has captured me on Zendikar, though instead of a prisonspell in the Eye of Ugin, there's work, studies and assignments instead of, you know, keeping the Eldrazi company.
The match was played best of three, and down below you can see the results of each game.
So settle down, pull up a chair by the hearth (hint to as what game distracted me from having this article done way earlier), put on your Glasses of Urza, and enjoy the read!
The contestants:
CaveShinobi
has proved that Aggro most certainly always is viable. With fast creatures and a healthily low curve, he has paced past contestants and it has been a pleasure to play a deck, that is, in my opinion, the embodiment of the spirit of Boros!
If the challenge was decided on geist alone, I would assign the victory to CaveShinobi for making a truly efficient Boros-y deck, but alas; that would probably be a rather dull way of settling the match.
TheLameSauce
likes keywords. So does Concerted Effort (a card I didn't even know existed until TLS put it in a deck and submitted it).
Q: But how does it work with all those 1-ofs and 2-ofs? It must be horribly inconsistent!
A: Kind of, but not really. All the creatures in Concerted Boros are matched up for the sake of the curve, so that there's still creatures at all points in the curve. It's worked out well so far, and it is truly an unorthodox deck that deserves to be in the finals!
Best of Three
TheLameSauce's moves are written in italics, and will be "T" in the type-ups.
CaveShinobi's moves are written in bold, and will be "C" in the type-ups.

Results!
TheLameSauce takes the match 2-1 and wins the Ultimate Guild Challenge: Boros! His janky deck with lots of trouble creatures with evasion of different kinds, has taken other decks by surprise all throughout the challenge, and at long last he rests his head on the throne of TappedOut Boros! (I'm sure that's a division of the Boros Legion).
Congratulations to TheLameSauce for his deck that has powered through everything and everyone in his quest to become the Guild Representative for Boros!
Also a big congratulations to CaveShinobi for finishing second, and a huge shout-out to everyone who has read and/or partaken in the challenge series!
Thank you for reading, and please post any comments, questions or best-wishes in the comments below!

@killroy726: I probably will at some point, though I don't want to start something that I'm not sure I'll finish. We'll see :) In any case I was planning to let the community decide through a vote. It's probably going to be between Azorius, Dimir or Orzhov.
@Droxium: I just started growing spring veggies; it's beautiful! No one's smacktalked it at all this week! Except yesterday, but that was a Monday, so it doesn't count.

Getting to the finals is good enough for me :P especially since I'm always at the bottom of the standings on FNMs lol. Congrats to TheLameSauce!
@Dallie This was a good run, and I'm looking forward to any future UCG! Also, good luck with those studies. Being an university student myself, I know that feel of wanting some time for yourself all the while seeing the stack of works grow and grow :'D
If you end up ever making more UCGs, I'll vote for Azorius! You have no idea just how much I'm in love with Deputy of Acquittals . Such a fun card <3

Dallie, You should do Orzhov or Dimir - A lot of interesting cards are coming out with JIN for Blue and black and specifically the Athreos, God of Passage for ozhov.
By the way, maybe I am blind, but is the format Modern or Legacy? I know its not Standard, haha.
Great job and it seems you play fair. The only concern I would have is if people play Thoughtseize / discard in a black deck or counter spells in a blue deck. That will be a bit unfair since you actually know what the hand is. Hard to not keep it out of your mind and know not to cast it because nothing is worth discarding yet or want to save your counter spell for that SECOND threat in the opponents hand. Know what I mean?

Dreno33 It's neither Modern nor Legacy nor Standard. It's just cards from the Ravnica and Return to Ravnica blocks.

This is probably my greatest magic achievement of all time. That was awesome!
April 15, 2014 6:14 p.m.
Wish I knew about this and the rules, I'd probably enter and win if it was Boros.
April 15, 2014 9:51 p.m.
Hey Dallie, if you make another one of these, can you try to remember to tag me to it? I really like these and I also can't remember where you put the entry post for it last time. :)
April 16, 2014 1:28 a.m.
@CaveShinobi: I'm definitely leaning towards having the next guild be Azorius or Dimir, due to no blue decks having been made yet. Haha and yeah, I've got exams coming up so it's pretty busy.
@Dreno33: As CaveShinobi mentioned, it's a Ravnica thing. I do see what you mean about the Discard/Counter thing, though I believe I can put myself in the player's place regardless. We'll see.
@TheLameSauce: Congratulations man :)
@Zhane23: The rules are the same for all the guilds (except card colors of course). They can be found here.
@KingSorin: Will try to remember to give you a heads-up!

@Dallie If you remember, could you tag me too, so I notice as soon as you start the next UCG, please? :P

I would love to participate in the next one if you get a chance. Id really like to see one for the Izzet League. Also, if you ever need help running these articles, I would love to help you out.
April 16, 2014 9:51 p.m.
@CommanderOfBolas: I'll let you know. As mentioned above, a slower guild will be next.
April 17, 2014 8:50 a.m.
My vote is for dimir! Anyway, thanks for the articles and I hope you continue writing them.
