Where Have I Been?

Hello all! Spooty here. Today I'd like to tell you all what's been going on with me lately, where I've been, where the articles have been, and where they're going in the future. There's no doubt that I've been mostly absent recently when it comes to deck help, Showdowns, LegitMTG articles, cockatrice playtesting (If you play with me on there) and even brewing. There are a couple reasons for this, so let's delve into that right away.

The past few months for me, personally, have been quite amazing. It started with me being given the opportunity to write articles for LMTG and more recently it has continued with me being given the opportunity to work in a position that I have been desiring for a while now. A lot of you are familiar with the fact that I enjoy playing the color combos of Selesnya and Simic almost exclusively. Well, the fact of the matter is I was actually I biology student in college and I have a real interest in plants and animals in real life -- especially plants. This, of course, trickles down into my MTG playstyle and enjoyment so it's probably no surprise to you all that I play primarily green decks and have the title of "Sylvan Wrath" now, does it? :P

Last month I was given the incredibly lucky opportunity to work at an up and coming Carnivorous Plant Nursery (I doubt you all need links, but here's one just in case). It has been my desire to have a career in a plant nursery for a while now and this one has been simply perfect for me. I'm basically a real-life member of the Conclave! There is a significant dearth of Wurms, but not everything can be perfect, can it?

I'm very happy right now with how things are going and I've felt very lucky in life lately, but there is one issue that I need to get under control -- time. Yes, I've fallen victim to the curse of "not having enough time" to do seemingly anything lately. Unfortunately, this has included articles and less significant things like music practice, gaming, and MTG-playing. Not to mention the fact that when I fall out of routine with something I have a pretty hard time getting back into it at first. Needless to say, the articles have suffered more than anything else, and I'm writing this short one to get you all up to speed and maybe for some help as well. I need a kick in the ass to get me back into shape, basically.

So! Let's kick the ass! I do have one (semi-dated) Showdown article that is about 50% completed that I will probably be releasing in the next few days where I battle against a particularly cold opponent hint hint. After that, I think it would be beneficial to me to get into a small scheduled routine. I don't like routines, but I have to try something. What do you all think? Due to the nature of where I must prioritize articles, I was thinking of doing one showdown either every two weeks or every month. I guess I could otherwise do every 3 weeks if you all aren't afraid of odd numbers. Just understand that the longer the time between the articles, the better chance I'll be able to get them out to you. Give me your honest opinions.

Next, let's talk about the Showdowns, themselves. How do you all feel about them? Have they gotten stale yet? Do you find yourself desiring more from them? I have been wanting to switch things up lately and maybe start a new series (potentially a collaboration), but it would probably take place of showdown if I did. Do you yearn for more originality in deck choice? Or are you Matsi883 and you want me to stick with my same deck from article to article? I want to create valuable and enriching content for you all so I need to know what sort of audience I'm writing for.

Hopefully (if I've been missed), I haven't been missed too much over the past month or two. It's going to take a little time, but I'm both Ready / Willing and Ready / Willing to work towards making a comeback on this site. And I hope you all are looking for that.

Take it easy and may you never be mana-screwed.

Congratulation on being on conclave! In my opinion, Showdowns are good. They are interesting to read, what else is needed? Of course, if you have a good idea to spice'em up, you should do it. Good stuff can always be better!

Great to hear from you. Congratulations on finding a job that you love, it's important!

I love the showdowns and it's nice to see how a "signature" deck works out. If you only want to do one for standard every other week, I can probably do one in the off week so that the community gets a weekly article. I just need to figure out what I'm going to run. I'm split between three decks currently: a Naya hexproof deck, a red devotion aggro deck, and some sort of control... maybe I just flip a coin for each one... maybe I do one game with each. Hmm...

Why not take a course on Molecular Biology? Then you can become a part of the Simic Combine too!

I love the showdown series, I think for EDH though, if possible, the occasional multiplayer match would be interesting. Also, both casual and uber-deck showdowns would be entertaining

If you really want to do the other article, perhaps someone else can take over the Showdown and keep it running. It is very interesting, as long as whoever takes it over doesn't become obsessed with using a tier1 deck.

If you're looking to change it up, perhaps you could go the route of modern (don't think you've done that, perhaps you have and I'm missing them??) with an off the wall budget deck?

I want you to do whatever you want you to do. Just do something you enjoy, and I'm sure we will enjoy it too.

No! Not the odd numbers! (But actually, congratulations on the new job, and while 2 weeks would be best for us readers, if 3 or 4 weeks is better for you, it's better for us in the long run. As for decks, I would like if you either stuck with the same deck from week to week, only changing it every couple months or something, OR if you played with a different deck every time.)

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I think I can make every 2 weeks work out if that's what most people are looking for. Apoptosis, shoot me an e-mail (address on my page) and maybe we can work something out for that! It might be a good way to keep the content coming while giving me time for irl stuff.

Also, HOORAY BIOLOGISTS!!
