And I quote, "Combos & Wincons: Thassa's Oracle Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle Enter the Infinite + Thassa's Oracle ." There are no other wincons you listed. I'm just going off what you said.

I mean, I think everyone's playgroup really shapes how we all view mechanics and things. You could have a deck that absolutely abuses extort, sure, and it could be good enough to feel OP at times, but in the grand scheme of the game, extort feels fairly decent-at-best. I mean, it's a good effect, it's like reusable a one mana Lightning Helix that you can only use in commander, which seems kinda fine : ) Is this really a problem in a world of infinite mana, 0 mana rocks, and even things like Duelist's Heritage which I love, but does also do like 20+ damage for 3 mana, and lets you double your opponent's combat damage at will.
Honestly, just my opinion, but I that maybe Mark Rosewater is just a magic player too, and we can all get a little frustrated when our friends make decks that are a little too strong. If any of us died to extort a bunch, we'd be like, right, this doesn't work the way it was meant to when it was printed, and that's a bugger. But throwing around the "problematic" in a format with Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle is silly a tid.

I suggest you go the way of combos with muldrotha. She has access to a lot of cheap tutors such as Entomb and Buried Alive . Some combos that are good include:
- The first combo uses Altar of Dementia + Kaya's Ghostform + Muldrotha, the Gravetide . How this combo works is you play Kaya's Ghostform on Muldrotha, the Gravetide then sacrifice her to Altar of Dementia targeting an opponent. In order for this combo to truly go infinite is by also having either Pitiless Plunderer or Lotus Petal in play to use for the one black mana on Kaya's Ghostform .
- The second combo that I find to be the easiest to pull off is Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle . This one is pretty self explainatory; you play Thassa's Oracle than before it resolves you play Demonic Consultation naming a card that is not in your deck. After you exile your graveyard, everything resolves and you win! This also works with Jace, Wielder of Mysteries in place of Thassa's Oracle
- The last combo is Muldrotha, the Gravetide + Llanowar Elves + Timestream Navigator + Prime Speaker Vannifar. This combo is the most complicated so here we go. First things first, you need all four creatures on the battlefield with no summoning sickness, as well as having enough permanents for the city's blessing. Next, you activate Timestream Navigator , taking an extra turn. While you are still on the first turn you float a green with Llanowar Elves then sacrifice the elves to Prime Speaker Vannifar . With Prime Speaker Vannifar you go and find Timestream Navigator and then recast Llanowar Elves with the floating green mana. After this, you should have infinite turns, which you should be able to pull a with.
On the planeswalker front Jace, Wielder of Mysteries is super good as a wincon. Value-wise Ashiok, Dream Render , Tamiyo, Collector of Tales , Teferi, Master of Time , and our favorite elk friend Oko, Thief of Crowns all work really well with Muldrotha. Check out my Muldrotha for more card suggestions here

The reason why Mishra, Artificer Prodigy might be ranked so high, could be due to its colour identity. Grixis has a mostly commander independent strategy (storm and Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle for example) which by itself is a high powered strategy. Second IF you build Mishra, Artificer Prodigy using storm in mind with Possibility Storm this might result in a reasonably strong deck. Stronger than those of lower categories at least.
So, I believe the reason Mishra is placed so high is mostly due to the inherent strengths of its colour identity, which enable stronger decks even if the commander does not enhance said strategy

I plan to write a primer for the deck soon, but list isn't quite finalized yet. The deck has several winning combos and the idea is to assemble one as quick as possible and be able to easily pivot strategies based on your opponents.
The main idea is that once the entire deck is milled either using Hermit Druid or Eternal Scourge + Food Chain mana to cast Sidisi, Brood Tyrant infinite times, flashback Dread Return to get Necrotic Ooze or Thassa's Oracle to win the game. You can also get back Eternal Witness returning Walking Ballista to hand and cast that for .
As a backup combo there are also two Flash + Protean Hulk lines. One of them gets a hasty Hermit Druid to win as previously mentioned and the other wins with Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle .
If all else fails. Zombie Beats!

FaiberJC: Hmm. Well, the primary combos are laid out in the deck description, but I can re-list them here ;) Aetherflux Reservoir + Bolas's Citadel + Sensei's Divining Top , Demonic Consultation + Thassa's Oracle , Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter , Notion Thief + Windfall .
Regarding your group's rules about creature type... It's certainly possible for this list (you only lose Thing in the Ice Flip, which isn't that important anyway, and which I'd replace with Dark Confidant). But the kind of meta where those rules exist is not one where this deck would be polite to play. I feel like I need to clarify, this is a deck that tries to win as quickly and brutally as possible, often on turns 1-3. Tribal synergies are not the goal here.
The deck will certainly have a lot more trouble if you try to build it without any of the powerful mana rocks. I'd cut Ad Nauseam if you don't have any of those cards, and add many more 2-mana rocks to compensate.
