The most common use of Defense you are going to find is to grab two card creature combos like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Xenagos, God of Revels .

@metalreptar Producing more than 3 mana with 1 Land is not easy so I probably won't be running that strategy. There's other ways to do that as well, but infinite mana isn't that important. What's important is 7 to 9 mana to play Tooth and Nail on Turn 3. I'm not using Overgrowth simply because Fertile Ground is 2 CMC, that's one turn sooner than Overgrowth. Even though Fertile Ground doesn't produce 3 Mana it comes down sooner so a half decent hand becomes a lot better compared to a half decent hand with Overgrowth in it instead. Sometimes you'll just draw a good hand and then loose all your pieces and Overgrowth becomes a hindrance compared to Fertile Ground. You produce the same amount of mana needed on the same turn with Fertile Ground just like you would with Overgrowth to play Tooth and Nail into Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Xenagos, God of Revels so I see no reason to play something that's one mana more if I get the same result from something that's cheaper.

Have you considered Tooth and Nail?

Its expensive but Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Xenagos, God of Revels just wins right now where as one strike from Through the Breach technically gives them a chance

this is the deck I made around it: Ramp N' Nail
