Thanks for the comment MRDOOM3! While I do like those cards a lot, I think they fit better in a more modern Dimir style deck. Also, I think maybe throwing in a cheap Liliana's Caress + Mindcrank and the extra Bloodchief Ascension in a modern version of insta-mill would be sick, maybe even worth adding to this, I'd have to sit on it.

Unfortunately, Liliana's Caress + Mindcrank isn't a combo, the card states that when a card is discarded, they take two damage, but discard is specifically from the hand, if you're milling from the library, it won't trigger Caress. Bloodchief Ascension does trigger the combo, but it's better to go all in on the guildmage and get some protection for your pieces. Robe of Mirrors is good for protecting your creatures, but it won't stop them from being countered on cast, and it certainly won't protect mindcrank from being countered. Fortunately, your creatures and components only need to be on the board for a turn or two until you get your combo off, so it's better to just run cheap counters like Spell Pierce to prevent them from removing your combo pieces.
