Nice deck man, I'm currently play-testing it and I've found a few problems

There's no Plains so with Terramorphic Expanse and Rampant Growth I can't get a source for

The deck killed pretty fast when I 1v0 tested it, however I was having a hard time drawing creatures. I actually never drew a dragon or a spell to get a dragon until I had enough mana to play Scion.

I'll playtest it again later but I'm actually supposed to be taking a test right now. So I'll leave some suggestion cards if you want to add them in.

Dragon Arch

Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon (Scion's ability for Moltensteel Dragon, activate ability 6 times, switch to Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon, swing for 10 infect)

Chromatic Lantern if you give up on the under $35

Any other tutor cards

Mana-Charged Dragon if you like Politics.

divinagon: Moonveil Dragon is unnecessary when using the Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon combo. And even with Doublestrike, Atarka, World Render doesn't make Skithiryx lethal in one swing.

tkizzle: Sounds to me like you're attacking JUST to attack. Scion of the Ur-Dragon has a lot better things to be doing than swinging at opponents for measly damage.

You have the capability to wipe a single player off the board using Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon . Use it! If you're splitting up attacks, make sure the attacks count. If it's a blue deck, use Nicol Bolas to discard their hand. Opponent running a bunch of mana dorks? Wipe them with Balefire Dragon. Every attack is meant to be crippling in this deck. Use the correct Dragon to wreak havoc on your opponent's board position. Don't waste your attacks just to get damage.

I love this deck! So much so that I am attempting to build my own version, but considering some of your combos.

That being said, can you please help me understand this combo????

Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon ?

I am under the impression that Scion loses it's copy ability the rest of the turn once it has copied a dragon, so I am lost / confused / sad because I can't figure it out

Thanks in advance! And nice work!

The best Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck, in fact, does not really uses him. It is an Hermit Druid combo deck, with Necrotic Ooze and the like. You can look at Epochalyptik 0% basic deck, even if it is not the same general, it will give you a great idea, and it is a great primer.

The main difference with Scion is that you have the opportunity to run some backup combos using dragons, like Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon or Atarka, World Render + Moltensteel Dragon .

If you want to build a tribal Scion deck, the best idea would be to go into the reanimator route, since you can fill the grave with dragons then try to mass reanimate them and crush your opponents. Even if it is not a tier 1 deck, it is still really great.

For the colors, how I usually consider them in my 5c decks, white brings support amd exile removal, blue brings control couterspell and mainly draw, black brings removal and tutor and reanimation, red brings artifact removal amnd chaos (it also brings many cards for the HD combo if you go that route), and green brings ramp, creature tutor and mana fixing, mainly, as well as many other things, couls not list them all ;)

Hope I helped!!!

@dooomsdae: I assure you that this combo is well understood when you explain it once... People tend to be more surprised by the Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon combo, not understanting why Scion keeps the buff.
