mznbzt This is how Opalescence + Parallax Wave works:

  1. Parallax Wave enters the battlefield as a creature due to Opalescence, and with 5 counters.

  2. Target 4 other creatures with Parallax Wave, then while the Parallax Wave abilities are still on the stack, target Parallax Wave with its own ability.

  3. Parallax Wave gets exiled due to its own ability, which causes all creatures exiled by it (i.e. itself) to return to play.

  4. Parallax Wave returns to play as a new card, as a creature with 5 counters.

  5. The remaining exile abilities resolve, but because the original Parallax Wave is gone those targets cannot come back to play once exiled.

  6. Repeat the process with the 5 counters on Parallax Wave, until all creatures and enchantments you want to exile are exiled.

Another cool thing about Eldrazi Displacer + Tidehollow Sculler : Sculler doesn't have that unfortunate phrase "until it leaves the battlefield," like Banishing Light does. If you flicker the sculler in response to the sculler's ETB ability, it won't have a card to return to the opponent's hand for the LTB, and it won't have any way to return the card to their hand later. Basically you get a repeatable Thoughtseize that exiles the card instead of burying it.

It's the same idea behind the Opalescence + Parallax Wave combo.
