Description

The theme of this cube is blue control (i.e., countering). There is an over-abundance of excellent blue control. There are enough blue cards to support everyone splashing blue.

In general, all the non-blue cards are selected to interact with control in some way -- either having some methods to evade or outpace control, or some assistance to blue decks that want to splash.

Red, the second most common color, specializes in abundant, very fast coming hasty creatures. It relies on pure speed to outpace control. There is a minor phoenix theme to recur cards, and many recurrent direct damage spells.

Green specializes in some of the hardest creatures for control to dealth with, being uncounterable, having protection from blue, etc. Ramp is primarily done through extra land drops, and flash creatures, which can entice control players to splash.

Black specializes in discarding and reanimation, to play around control. It also has strong draw ability, which can be good either for control or for increased aggression.

White specializes in increasing the cost of counterspells, and locking out spells to make countering more difficult, but adds a lot of board wipes and enchantment spells for protection against the hordes, making it a solid color to splash with blue.
