Description

My first attempt at a cube. The cube is intended to be drafted with about 6-8 people, each creating a 100 card singleton/commander deck. This means that there are intended to be 10 packs per person drafted, each with 10 cards. There are also multicolored cards (gold cards) included--which, whenever possible, maintained the color balance of the cube, and favored allied color combinations most of the time.

The cube, aside from being singleton, also has one major theme: tribes. Each color has three different tribes to choose from (there is some overlap), and each of those tribes has a virtually even representation among everything--creatures, planeswalkers, spells, etc. There were a few cards that I ignored because I believed them to be balance-breaking, but aside from that, most tribal cards were included. There are at least two rare creatures for each tribe, and at least one planeswalker that should synergize well with its tribe (in parenthesis below--but these are just suggestions). Since tribes may overlap among players, a trading period that occurs after the draft might be an interesting twist. Finally, I will say that I had an opportunity to play this as a physical draft with seven players. FOUR of the decks went off so well that they seemed like regularly constructed commander decks--not draft decks. The synergy here is very good.

Notes:

  • I did include one particular card, Biorhythm, which is technically illegal in commander format, but I believe to be fine in this format.
  • The cards are custom-organized with rarity and type groupings for comparing tribe representation among rarities, but I did not use this as the default sort.
  • Nightveil Predator is custom organized as a gold common creature, but it is actually an uncommon (there were no commons to keep the tribe balance intact).
  • I do not know why Vampire Champion is coming up as a colorless creature.
  • Since a balance among tribes and colors was most important to me, the rarity of cards will not work perfectly and some later-drafted packs may need to use additional rares in the place of commons, depending on the amount of players drafting. To remedy this, I eventually intend on adding artifact creatures and possibly more multicolored spells to the cube (Would need 75 commons added).
  • Finally, this cube is too large to draft on this site, so it needs to be obtained or printed as proxies for physical play.
