Description

Archetypes are:

WU Heroic Aggro (formally WU Prowess Aggro)

UB mill (usually self-mill)/necromancy

BR Sacrifice (more controlling than usual)

RG Ramp into X spells (Rosheen Meanderer is a card)

GW Enchantress

WB Spirit tribal (formerly WB Lifegain/drain, but I found it was just too annoying of a gameplay style when the archetype was powerful enough to compete...)

BG dredge/play from the graveyard

GU counter shenanigans

UR Instants/Sorceries

RW Tokens/"go wide" (formerly RW Voltron).

There are also a number of individual build-around me cards (Ex: Necrotic ooze, Favorable Winds, Squee, Goblin Nabob, etc.)

Cube design: 16 cards/archetype, no more than 3 of which can be true multicolored (that is, uncastable if you don't have both mana colors). +8 cards/each of the 30 overlaps between archetypes, for a total of 40 cards intended for each archetype (some of which are shared). The archetypes are meant to be pretty visible, and in my experience, they are. This totals to 400 cards; the 50 remaining slots are for 'tweak' cards (e.g: the cube needs more fixing, add some evolving wilds!) and extra build-around-me's.

This cube began because I eventually decided that BW enchantments was basically undraftable in Origins. That is, if you tried to draft for synergy, you ended up with a really bad deck (I know that BW goodstuff was a decent deck in Origins limited). I got annoyed by that, and started thinking about how ill-defined so many of the archetypes actually were, generally. It was rare to have (playable) decks that were doing significantly different things in draft. I wanted to know what a REAL enchantment archetype looked like, what a REAL UB self mill draft deck looked like. I wanted a draft set where the good decks weren't just the ones that just took the best creatures and removal in their colors and built a nice curve. Because that's fun, but I was ready for something more.

Happy drafting, and any feedback would be appreciated. :)

NOTE: Circle of Flame is a proxy for this homebrew card:

[

Bringer of Magnitude 1R

Creature- Human Shaman {2/1}

During your upkeep, you may pay {1}. If you do, put a magnitude counter on Bringer of Magnitude.

Costs you pay that include {X} cost {1} less to pay for each magnitude counter on Bringer of Magnitude.

]

It was included because I wanted another card that specifically cared about X-spells, and Rosheen Meanderer was literally the only one.
