What do you have to deal with Blood Moon, because it can singlehandedly reck this deck.

Counter it or have a bad time.

Every deck has its weakness. But I doubt many people will play Blood Moon before this deck goes off, though, and I still have Elvish Spirit Guide to fund the Hermit Druid ability if I can get to that point before they drop Blood Moon.

Imperial Seal and Serum Visions for utility?

Imperial Seal is already there.

I would probably run Preordain over Serum Visions because choosing what to draw is better. However, there isn't a ton of room in the list for cantrips.

Regarding the manabase: I'd consider rearranging it to account for the fact that you need green and blue more than anything else. Perhaps a Mardu shockland or two can go for Flooded Grove and Yavimaya Coast? Additional changes are possible, but I think I'd start there.

so then what about Preordain?

I don't really understand your choice of Reaper King, as you run no Scarecrows or Changelings for the destruction ability to trigger off of or to buff. You did mention that you could use him to destroy a permanent (in the Using the Combo Cards section), so I'll point out that he only triggers off of other Scarecrows... a mistake I also made until recently.

Preliminary +1, I'll take a closer look later.

@GlistenerAgent: I considered it. I was actually thinking about using the pains and checks over the filters. Pains seem like the better option because they never require anything else to function.

@Asher18: I would need to find room in the list and have nothing better to put in. That's basically how I decide what gets added to my decks: find the most useful option and go with that. I won't be making significant changes to the list until I see more options.

@nighthawk101: Good catch. I suppose that bit does matter. Maybe I'll run Cromat and let everyone think I'm playing group hug.

He's played for the colors more than anything else.

While I do play it for the colors, your choice of general can also be a mindgame. And if there's utility available, it's a good idea to pick it.

What happens if you draw kiki-jiki?

this deck is of course amazing. an infinite amount of +1s to you. Question: is there a better option or more consistent option than Caller of the Claw, i.e. Altar of the Brood or Blasting Station

February 8, 2015 6:07 p.m.

@Chubbub: Tutor for Putrid Imp and pitch it. Or combo and use Putrid Imp's ability from the graveyard through Necrotic Ooze.

@klone13: I suppose you could use those options, but remember that Caller of the Claw is a secondary win-con and that it is supported by Crypt Champion's first ability. Altar of the Brood and Blasting Station would require external setup, and Altar of the Brood isn't an instawin.

I do like Chromat much better here. It gives you a much more effective alt. wincon.

Interesting. I think whatever changes yeaGO made recently are messing with the upvote and suggestion systems. A couple other users are having problems upvoting, and I can't clear suggestions.

Isn't Diabolic Intent a straight-up better Altar of Bone, simply because it's only one color and because it can find any card?

February 8, 2015 8:13 p.m.

My concern with Diabolic Intent is that this deck doesn't really play many creatures. You aren't really guaranteed to get a creature on the field for the additional cost, and you have to factor in the time and mana invested in that sacrificial creature.

Plus, the tutors in this deck are used almost exclusively to find Hermit Druid or Cephalid Illusionist. I don't discount the value of omnitutors, but I also don't feel compelled to force them if I don't have to.

Can you explain the Mogg Fanatic combo?

The Caller of the Claw win condition seems powerful but fragile, relying on combat damage. Having backup counter magic obviously helps it, but perhaps Bitter Ordeal would accomplish the job better?

February 8, 2015 8:20 p.m.

KillDatBUG says... #23

@Epochalyptic

If I'm not mistaken, don't you also have to sac a creature as an additional cost for Altar of Bone?

February 8, 2015 8:21 p.m.

SimicPower says... #24

vault: If Mogg Fanatic is in your graveyard, you can sacrifice any Necrotic Ooze to deal one damage. Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker makes infinite oozes, and therefore you can get infinite damage.

So, Epoch, do you actually have this deck built in real life, or is it just an idea you have?
