Manapanda, I am tending to agree. I have had it in for two tourneys and so far am not impressed, it is too mana intensive and dies to Bolt. Plus tap lands are incredibly annoying in this build. Vent is being tested. Having an equip target to get Grafted Wargear off of Percy is extremely important but I am going to give Vent one or two more tourneys before I make the final call.

APPLE01DOJ, Angler is a pain, but I run Path ;) so that helps a lot. I have five direct removal that can target it, maindeck graveyard hate (inconsistent though it is), and Liliana, so for now the Victim has not proved to be a problem.

Thanks, Nef! I truly appreciate that. It really is a lot of fun to play, and the whole Percy/Souls/Bob/Wargear package is the real deal for sure.

Tonight I went 2-1-1 in a field of 18.

2-0 vs. UBG home-brew

2-0 vs. Merfolk

1-2 vs. Mono-G Stompy

Solid BW modrange build, bud. I especially like the more original inclusions, jotun grunt seems like he does a good goyf impression mid to late game. Two questions: have you had issues getting abyssal off the field to end the game? And have you tested with new gideon as a curve topper?

Thanks for the kind words. Jotun Grunt is the most variable inclusion in the build; I encounter a LOT of Grixis and BGx builds (plus the occasional Dredgevine or Living End deck) so graveyard hate is super important. Sometimes he is pretty much dead-in-hand, though.

I have not been having issues with getting rid of Abyssal Persecutor. I'd be lying if I said it had never happened, but it is very rare. I currently run 12 ways to off him, including instants, planeswalkers, equipment, and a land. For me, the evasion and ability to push through chumps with trample seems better than Gideon's versatility, but I haven't done any testing of the new 'walker.

Glad someone is having success with DGA. =n.n=

I gave up months ago, then recently shifted my list into Death and Taxes.. as Id come to the conclusion that my upgrade to x card was driving me there..

Nice deck! But does it actually work?

It does. I went 3-1-1 with a Kalitas (instead of Percy) version of this build a week ago, but couldn't turn him on enough, so I went back to Percy.

On Monday I went 3-1. My meta is pretty serious I think, though I have no basis for caparison I guess. There are a lot of Tier 1 decks, with good pilots, in circulation though.

The deck is extremely strong against both Infect and Affinity. (Infect feels like a bye, actually.) It has a strong midrange game against much of the field and the lifegain options (Sorin SV, Auriok Champion, Shambling Vent) have improved the Burn matchup tremendously. Against Tron I usually need to get lucky with some combination of GQs, Stony Silence, and/or early hand disruption. Against fast aggro I lose G1 and come back stronger G2 with Damnation, Engineered Explosives, and Ratchet Bomb (plus knowing what I'm facing).

TL;DR version: It works, is unexpected by opponents, and is fun to play.

I feel the need, the need for Rite of Consumption. It doesn't rhyme, but that card wreaks havoc with Percy.

Wow, I did not know that card existed! That is SO good. My only concern is about how narrow it is, and that it is a sorcery. I don't know what I would take out for it. Maybe Zealous Persecution since that doesn't persecute the Persecutor. But it does make my Spirit tokens amazingly good though. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for the tip.
